Runners have just days left to sign up for this year’s BTR Women’s 10K and 5K, taking place in Liverpool’s Sefton Park this weekend.

More than 1,000 runners have already registered across the two races, which take place on Sunday 6 September.

The 5K gets under way at 9.30am, followed by the Women’s 10K at 10.30am, with final entries now being accepted ahead of race day.

Organised by BTR Liverpool, the female-only event returned to the city’s running calendar in 2024, with a 5K distance added last year following popular demand.

The shorter race is designed as an accessible step up for runners who may be used to taking part in parkrun but are looking to experience a larger organised race event.

Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity is the headline charity partner for the BTR Women’s 10K Liverpool 2026, with more than 60 runners taking part to raise funds for its work.

Together, the charity’s runners have already raised more than £6,000.

Liverpool Women’s Hospital is the UK’s largest specialist hospital dedicated to the health of women, babies and families, caring for thousands of patients from across the North West and beyond each year.

Money raised for Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity helps support specialist medical equipment, research into women’s and babies’ health, improved facilities and services for families experiencing pregnancy complications, neonatal care, fertility treatment, gynaecological conditions and pregnancy loss.

A Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity marquee will be located in the race village on Sunday, where runners and spectators can find out more about its work and ways to get involved.

Anyone taking part in either the 10K or 5K can choose which area of Liverpool Women’s Hospital they would like their fundraising to support.

The Women’s 10K has a long history in Liverpool, with Sefton Park serving as the original home of the race during its peak in the 1980s and early 1990s.

BTR Liverpool revived the event in 2024 before introducing the 5K the following year. More than 600 runners took part in 2025.

Every finisher this weekend will receive a commemorative medal and T-shirt.

This year’s rainbow chrome medal features Peter Pan in recognition of the famous statue in Sefton Park, while 5K runners will receive a pink T-shirt and 10K participants a purple one.

Presenter Claire Simmo will host the event.

Loren Slade, Fundraising Manager at Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity, commented:

“We have over 60 runners supporting Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity on Sunday – we are very proud to be headline charity partner for the BTR Women’s 10K and 5K Liverpool 2026. Together, these brilliant women have already raised more than £6,000 to support our patients and families when they need it most.

“We’ve also been lucky to receive fantastic support from Girls On The Go running community, Liverpool Women’s Hospital staff and supporters – and they’ll all be there on Sunday to cheer on everyone.

“We’re so grateful to everyone who is running, fundraising, or supporting us. There’s nothing better than seeing thousands of women cheering each other on, and that spirit of women supporting women is exactly what Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity is all about. Come along to our marquee and say hello, it’s going to be a really positive, empowering day.”

BTR Liverpool organises a programme of running events across Liverpool City Region throughout the year, including the Liverpool Half Marathon, Mersey Tunnel 10K, Port Sunlight Road Race, Wirral 10K, Run For The 97 and Liverpool Santa Dash.

The organisation and its portfolio of events were acquired by mass participation events company Run For All in 2025. Run For All is wholly owned by the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.

Final entries for the BTR Women’s 10K and 5K are available through the BTR Liverpool website.
