Liverpool Cathedral will be transformed into a spectacular world of light, music and storytelling this Christmas as Luxmuralis presents the world premiere of its brand-new production, Noël.
Running from 27 November to 5 December 2026, the immersive experience will take visitors on a journey through festive memories, music and the Nativity story, with the Cathedral’s monumental arches, ceilings and stonework becoming a vast living canvas.
The event marks the return of Liverpool Cathedral’s hugely popular Christmas light and sound tradition following a series of sold-out productions from internationally acclaimed artistic team Luxmuralis.
Visitors will begin their journey surrounded by nostalgic festive scenes, accompanied by reworkings of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, designed to evoke memories of Christmases past.
Moving into the Nave, dramatic projections will bring the Nativity story to life alongside a new interpretation of The First Noël.
One of the centrepieces of this year’s experience will be Constellation, a new installation featuring thousands of stars created by schoolchildren from across the Liverpool City Region.
Each handmade star will carry a message of hope or reflection, coming together to form a galaxy of young voices inside the Cathedral.
Visitors will also be encouraged to reflect on their own hopes for Christmas and the year ahead as they make their way through the experience.

Through light, music, storytelling and thousands of stars created by children from across our region, visitors will be invited to pause, reflect and experience the Cathedral in a profoundly moving way. We look forward to welcoming people of all ages and backgrounds to share in this unforgettable celebration.”

However, it’s far more than that, it is about the tradition that our partnership with the Cathedral has created for many families around the city and creating something truly unique and magical for the city. That uniqueness come from the way we create these installations, in what is one of the largest indoor immersive creative experiences in the world.”
Those looking to make a festive evening of their visit can head to the Cathedral’s Welsford Bistro, which will serve a special menu inspired by the warmth and flavours of traditional Christmas markets.
Noël will run at Liverpool Cathedral from Friday 27 November until Saturday 5 December 2026.
