Liverpool’s iconic Bombed Out Church is set to come alive with fire performances and live drumming as Ignite the Night returns on Sunday 1 November 2026, offering families an alternative to traditional Bonfire Night fireworks.
Following the success of the event in 2024, St Luke’s Bombed Out Church will once again team up with Liverpool-based Bring the Fire Project and Wirral Drummers for an evening celebrating fire, music and community in the church’s gardens.

Running from 4.30pm until 7pm, the family-friendly event will feature spectacular fire performances alongside freestyle and choreographed drumming, with up to 20 fire performers expected to take part.
The gathering will bring together fire artists from across the North West, creating a unique atmosphere in one of Liverpool’s most recognisable landmarks.
Ignite the Night offers a free, donation-based alternative to fireworks, making it an affordable half-term activity for families looking for something different to enjoy together.
Visitors can expect a combination of fire artistry, rhythmic drumming and a welcoming community atmosphere, with the Bombed Out Church providing a dramatic backdrop for the performances.

At the heart of the event is a celebration of local creativity and the importance of bringing people together through the arts.
Both Bring the Fire Project and Wirral Drummers organise regular meet-ups and learning opportunities, helping people develop new skills, connect with others and take part in performances.
By bringing the two groups together, Ignite the Night aims to showcase local talent while encouraging more people to discover the creative communities operating across Liverpool and Wirral.

Szymon (Sai) Mamys, Director of Bring the Fire Project, said:
“I am incredibly proud to share the passion & love to fire arts with people in our city. Liverpool is missing fire arts during Bonfire celebrations & we are here to give space to shine to our amazing fire & flow community.”
The event will also help raise funds to support the ongoing community work at St Luke’s Bombed Out Church, with donations warmly welcomed from those attending.
The church’s Garden Bar will be open throughout the evening, serving winter warmers to help visitors keep cosy while enjoying the entertainment.
Organisers are encouraging people to wrap up warm and arrive early following the popularity of the previous Ignite the Night event in 2024.
Ignite the Night takes place on Sunday 1 November 2026, from 4.30pm to 7pm, in the gardens of St Luke’s Bombed Out Church in Liverpool.
Entry is free, although donations are encouraged to help support the venue and its community activities.
Due to the nature of the fire performances, dogs will not be permitted on site, with the exception of guide dogs.
