A supportive new initiative is launching in Liverpool to make it significantly easier for neurodivergent young people to explore fresh hobbies and activities within a thoroughly welcoming, secure environment.
Project Teens is a brand new event designed to bring together a diverse collective of cultural institutions, social clubs, and specialist support organisations at Central Library on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 June 2026.
The unique two-day gathering focuses specifically on neurodivergent teenagers aged between 14 and 17, aiming to highlight the most accessible and inclusive extra-curricular opportunities available across the city.
To ensure the programme delivers maximum benefit to local families, the entire event has been organised in close collaboration with the Brain Charity and Liverpool Family Hubs.
A wide variety of prominent regional organisations have signed up to participate, including National Museums Liverpool, Comics Youth, RAWD, The Bluecoat’s Young Blue Rooms, and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic’s In Harmony team.
Exploring Comic Book Creation, Music, and Gaming Without Pressure
Teenagers attending the event will have the opportunity to participate in an array of engaging, hands-on activities such as comic book making, illustration, live performance, music, comedy, 3D printing, and Dungeons and Dragons.
Crucially, every single activity provider present at the library has a long-term, accessible offer in place that the teenagers can formally sign up to continue pursuing after the weekend event concludes.
Event organiser, Christina Beaumont, said:
“We all know that being a teenager can bring a whole host of personal and social challenges.
“For some though, the thought of trying something new can feel especially daunting.
“This event offers a chance for young people to come along to a welcoming and friendly space and give something a go without any pressure or commitment, alongside others who probably feel the same as them.
“Why not give it a go, because who knows?
“You might just find the thing you love.”
Securing Limited Places for the Free Central Library Workshops
Throughout the two-day schedule, a continuous timetable of completely free practical workshops will run to allow young people to try out the various creative activities on offer.
Interested participants can choose their preferred sessions and sign up for a maximum of four individual workshops directly via the official Brain Charity website.
Because the organisers are dedicated to maintaining a calm, uncrowded, and stress-free environment for the attendees, total number of places for each session remains strictly limited.
Families and young people are highly encouraged to complete their registrations early to secure their preferred slots, and bookings can be made immediately by clicking here.
