Penny Lane Weekender has announced the final wave of performers joining this weekend’s festival in Liverpool.
Coughin Vicars, This or Suburbia and NW Burlesque are among the latest additions to the grassroots event, which takes place from Friday 7 to Sunday 9 August across four venues on and around Penny Lane.
Returning for its fourth year, the festival will showcase local and independent artists across a programme spanning indie, rock, punk, electronica, dance and pop.
This year’s event also arrives exactly 60 years after the release of The Beatles’ landmark album Revolver, continuing the area’s association with Liverpool’s global musical legacy.
Among the newly announced acts are DIY punk band Coughin Vicars, whose sound combines first-generation English post-punk and early 1980s Los Angeles death rock with what organisers describe as “a melancholy bite of Merseyside grit”.
Wrexham-formed and now Liverpool-based band This or Suburbia will also perform. The group combines punchy bass and guitar riffs, energetic drums and passionate lyrics, drawing inspiration from bands including The Night Café and Catfish and the Bottlemen.
The band has already appeared at Liverpool Sound City and FOCUS Wales as it continues to establish itself on the regional music scene.
NW Burlesque will take over Neon Jamon from 4pm on Sunday for an hour-long curated show featuring performers Bobbie Blaze, Charity Cupcake and Violet Orchid.
Penny Lane Weekender was founded in 2023 by Liverpool post-punk band Pleasure Island to provide a platform for musicians from the city’s local community.
Originally intended to be a one-off event in the upstairs room at Dovedale Towers, the inaugural edition expanded into a multi-day festival using two venues following strong demand.
The event has since grown to include artists from Liverpool and across the UK, providing emerging musicians with an opportunity to perform in front of audiences in the Penny Lane area.
The 2026 festival will take place at Foghertys, LEAF, Penny Lane Wine Bar and Neon Jamon.
The full line-up includes Bedroom Toys, Colourwash, Syder, Broken Down Golf Cart, Tax Party, Fordton Leisure, Three From Above, The People Assembly, Ellie Moon, Crikey It’s The Cromptoms, Coughin Vicars, Aggressive Soccer Moms, Drew Friel, Mumbles, The Empty Page, This or Suburbia, Cheery, Maya Yenn, Dead Animals, Reptile B, Pablo El Diablo, Evil Pink Machine, Oranj Son, Deviant Order, Birrell or Biscuit, Chalkroom, European Taxis, Pleasure Island, Paint Me In Colour, S. Fearon, Victor Serge, Isis Moray, Quieting and Veve.
Burlesque performers Bobbie Blaze, Charity Cupcake, Violet Orchid, Ebony Blackheart, Leia Dance and Cherry Champagne will also appear during the weekend.
