The BBC has unveiled the official trailer for the highly anticipated second series of Liverpool-set crime drama This City Is Ours, giving fans another glimpse of the tension, betrayal and gangland rivalries awaiting them.
The hit drama, created by Liverpool writer Stephen Butchard, is set to return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer this autumn, following the success of its first series in 2025.
Liverpool actor James Nelson-Joyce reprises his role as Michael Kavanagh, alongside Hannah Onslow as Diana Williams, with the couple once again finding themselves caught up in the dangerous world of organised crime.
The new series picks up following the dramatic events of the first season. Michael and Diana have barely arrived in Spain when they are pulled back into the criminal underworld to answer questions surrounding Ricardo’s death.
Back in Liverpool, tensions continue to rise among the remaining members of the gang, while a former gangster from Ronnie Phelan’s era, recently released from prison, arrives demanding compensation from the organisation.
The second series also introduces two major additions to the cast. Liverpool-born actor Shaun Evans joins as Ozzie Thompson, an old-school gangster, while Money Heist star Álvaro Morte plays Felipe Guzman, the younger brother of Ricardo and a member of the Colombian cartel.
Returning cast members include Jack McMullen as Jamie Phelan, Julie Graham as Elaine Phelan, Mike Noble as Banksey, Laura Aikman as Rachel Duffy, Kevin Harvey as Bobby Duffy, Saoirse-Monica Jackson as Cheryl Crawford, Darci Shaw as Melissa Sullivan and Bobby Schofield as Bonehead.
The first series proved a major success for the BBC, attracting an average audience of 6.1 million viewers and earning BAFTA Television Award nominations for Best Drama and Leading Actor for James Nelson-Joyce.
Filming for the second series took place across Liverpool and the wider city region, with additional scenes shot in Spain.
The new series will consist of eight hour-long episodes and is produced by Left Bank Pictures for BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
This City Is Ours series two is coming this autumn, while the complete first series is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
