A brand-new immersive dining experience combining gourmet food, live music and projection-mapped skies is coming to St George’s Hall for Valentine’s weekend in 2027.
The Picnic Club will transform the historic North Hall on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th February, inviting guests to enjoy an indoor picnic beneath an ever-changing sky.

Created by Formby-born entrepreneur Tony Roberts, the event has been designed as an alternative to the traditional evening of dinner and drinks.
Guests will be taken on a visual journey through dramatic storms, clear blue skies, golden sunsets, star-filled nights and the Northern Lights, with the surroundings changing throughout each session.
Live music will accompany each stage of the experience, beginning with classical performances before moving into an uplifting cinematic and electronic soundtrack for the Northern Lights finale.
The event will also feature a specially curated cocktail menu inspired by the different skies and environments appearing throughout the evening.
Guests will receive a gourmet picnic basket divided into sections, allowing them to discover a range of flavours as the experience unfolds.

Organisers describe The Picnic Club as the UK’s first immersive indoor picnic experience, with the food, music, drinks and visuals all designed to form one continuous journey.
Tony Roberts, founder of The Picnic Club, said the idea came after he felt that many traditional nights out had started to become repetitive.
He said:
“I wanted to create an experience that people simply couldn’t enjoy anywhere else.
“This isn’t simply dinner or a show. It’s an evening where storytelling, music, food and atmosphere come together to create lasting memories.”
Although the event is taking place over Valentine’s weekend, The Picnic Club is not only aimed at couples. Friends and groups looking for a different way to spend an evening together are also welcome.
Tony added that he was proud to be launching the concept in Liverpool and hopes it could become an annual event in the city.
