The magic of Eurovision will take over Liverpool City Centre once more in a little more than a week!

Liverpool is dressing in sequins for another musical spectacular, a year after the city staged the most successful Eurovision Song Contest ever.

Free family-friendly events including Eurovision buskers and dancers appearing at city centre venues and the return of the wildly popular Euroclub, last year’s official Eurovision nightclub, will take over Camp and Furnace on Saturday, May 11.

Between 2-7pm the Pier Head will be transformed into a deep-sea party with Aquatopia – which will see the return of the blue and yellow submarine – one of the highlights of last year’s EuroFestival programme. Free family workshops where people can create their own fishy fancy dress accessories will start the day and then the party will kick off with a whole host of DJs, Ukrainian acts, sea puppets and dance performances. The event will come to life thanks to the creativity and imagination of the Invisible Wind Factory.

From 1-7pm, Beats on the Streets will take over Castle Street, Liverpool ONE and the Royal Albert Dock Liverpool when 30 pop-up music and dance performances by local talent will take over the locations throughout the day. Expect a soundtrack featuring Eurovision hits from across the years.

The Bluecoat will mark the anniversary with Fly High â€“ a beautiful art installation of blue and yellow butterfly lanterns created at family sessions. The butterflies represent how Liverpool shone under the global Eurovision spotlight and have been curated by artist Andrea Ku from B4 Biodiversity.

Businesses across the city are also getting in on the action and will be re-living last May with viewing parties, Eurovision quizzes, a burlesque extravaganza, a party cruise and even some Eurovision-themed cocktail making sessions.

You can the Visit Liverpool website for details of activities taking place, timings and locations.

And keep an eye on Visit Liverpool’s social media channels for an announcement next week about a special treasure-hunt involving one of the acts that wowed the Eurovision Village at the Pier Head last year…

Liverpool Loves Eurovision forms part of the Liverpool Loves campaign which aims to position Liverpool as the best place to attend an event in the UK. As well as Eurovision, Comic Con and Taylor Swift will also get the Liverpool Loves treatment in the coming months.

Any business or organisation that wants to be involved in the Liverpool Loves campaign should contact info@marketingliverpool.co.uk
