August is shaping up to be a lively month for Liverpool’s markets, with two brand-new locations joining the city’s ever-growing line-up.
For the first time, Dovecot and Norris Green will host community markets, joining the popular regulars at Allerton Hall and Lark Lane later this month.
The expansion reflects Liverpool City Council’s ongoing commitment to supporting local traders, boosting the city’s market offer, and creating events that appeal to both residents and visitors alike.
New Markets Launching in August:
- Sunday 24 August – Liv Fest, Dovecot Park, Pilch Lane, L14 7QJ (11am–4pm)
Held in partnership with the Olivia’s Butterfly Foundation and local neighbourhood teams, Liv Fest will feature rides, inflatables, dance performances, and a 20-stall market offering cakes, woodwork, clothing, and more. - Sunday 31 August – Norris Green Community Market, Ellergreen Lifestyles Centre, L11 2XY (10am–4pm)
Around 20 stalls will showcase some of the area’s best traders, selling sweet treats, clothing, accessories, and more, alongside community stalls and activities.
Returning Markets This Month:
- Saturday 23 August – Lark Lane, L17 8UN (9am–2pm)
- Saturday 30 August – Allerton Hall Farmers & Craft Market, Springwood Avenue, L25 7UN (11am–4pm)
Liverpool City Council has built a diverse markets programme — from weekly fixtures at Great Homer Street and the award-winning Stanley Park, to seasonal events at St George’s Hall and pop-up farmers markets across the city.
Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture Health and Wellbeing, Councillor Harry Doyle, said:
“This approach is all about looking at what events are taking place in communities across the city, and seeing how we can incorporate our brilliant markets within this.
“We have a really strong markets offer, but we know from talking to traders and customers that there is always the appetite for something new and fresh, and creative ideas can only improve what we currently have.
“Last year we saw the huge success of Stanley Park Market which has now become a regular fixture in our calendar, and the introduction of new pop-up Christmas markets in the city centre was also very well received. By testing out these new markets, it gives a great sense of what people want, and we’ll be keen to hear feedback from everyone involved so this can help shape future programmes.”
Plans are also in place to invest £5 million to further expand Great Homer Street Market.
