The LFC Foundation has now awarded a total of £140,000 to 20 community organisations in Anfield through its Red Neighbours Community Fund, helping support projects that make a lasting difference across the area.
Created by the LFC Foundation and backed by Liverpool FC, the fund was launched in 2020 to support local charities and community groups delivering projects that improve the lives of people living around Anfield.
The initiative is funded through donations made by Liverpool FC following concerts and major non-football events held at Anfield Stadium, ensuring investment is reinvested directly into the local community.
Since the first grants were awarded in 2022, funding has supported a wide range of initiatives, including the creation of a new cinema for young families and improvements to a local bowling club.
This year, several organisations have secured funding for projects tackling some of the area’s most pressing challenges.
Christ Church PPC will use its grant to help address food insecurity in one of the 10 most deprived parishes in England, while The Community Basket CIC will continue supporting families experiencing food poverty through its community-run food shop in Anfield.
Rage Performing Arts CIC has received funding to deliver a 12-week performing arts programme designed to provide a safe and supportive environment for young women, LGBTQ+ young people aged 11 to 18, and individuals up to the age of 25 with SEND needs.
Reel in the Community will run fishing and wellbeing sessions led by a qualified angling coach, offering support to people from all backgrounds who are experiencing mental health challenges.
Liverpool Community Radio plans to use its funding to combat social isolation through local broadcasting, media training opportunities and inclusive community activities.
Young people will also benefit from support for SS Development Academy CIC’s new Goals Beyond the Games programme, which will combine free football sessions with mentoring to create a safe space for participants to build confidence, make connections and access support.
Meanwhile, Vauxhall Law and Community Information Centre will provide free legal advice and advocacy services to residents facing issues relating to debt, housing and welfare, helping them regain stability and confidence.
The Red Neighbours Community Fund focuses on projects that align with the LFC Foundation’s core charitable objectives across health, learning and employment, ensuring funding reaches initiatives that create meaningful and lasting impact within local communities.
Matt Parish, CEO of LFC Foundation said:
“As a charity our primary aim is to fundraise directly to support our own participants, however it’s also vital we support neighbouring community initiatives and partners through our Red Neighbours programme and specifically our Red Neighbours community fund.
“Working in partnership is crucial to long-term success and there are some unbelievable organisations in and around the Anfield area and beyond who do some life changing work that aligns with our own mission, and I am thrilled we are able to play a small part in making a further difference in our community.”
