Around 7,000 people gathered at Aintree Racecourse on Saturday, August 29, as hundreds of synchronised drones lit up the night sky for the Space Safari Drone Light Show.
Presented by Immersive Drone Light Shows, the event saw hundreds of LED drones fly in precise formation after sunset, creating enormous animals, characters and scenes inspired by space above the racecourse.
The formations transformed the sky into a giant canvas, using light, movement and sound to tell a story on a huge scale.
The aerial animations were choreographed to a cinematic soundtrack and accompanied by narration from BAFTA award-winning TV presenter Michaela Strachan, taking thousands of spectators on an adventure through space and the animal kingdom.
The drone show formed the finale to a full afternoon and evening of family entertainment at Aintree Racecourse, with visitors enjoying live entertainment, fairground rides and a variety of street food before the drones took to the sky.
The Liverpool event was another stop in Space Safari’s programme of live drone light shows across the UK, combining technology, cinematic storytelling and family entertainment.
Space Safari is also designed as an eco-friendly and neurodiverse-friendly alternative to traditional fireworks.
The drones create large-scale aerial displays without loud explosive bangs, smoke or falling debris, offering an alternative for wildlife, pets, young children and neurodiverse audiences who may find conventional fireworks overwhelming.

Following the show, attendees took to social media to share their experiences from the night.
One visitor described it as a “fantastic night”, while another said the show was “so clever” and “amazing”.
Others highlighted the wider experience at Aintree, including the rides, food and birds of prey available ahead of the drone show.
