A brand-new food outlet Brunch N’ Bagel is bringing a taste of New York to Southport Market this week.
The market’s new outlet, which opened this Friday (17th October 2025), will serve up a menu packed with New York–inspired bagels, hearty brunches and fluffy jacket potatoes, all under the cheeky slogan, “A Whole Lotta’ Brunch!”

It’s the latest venture from Southport entrepreneur and food creator, Leanne Prescott (24), who already runs the hugely popular Cake Corner units at Southport Market and in Hillside.
Brunch N’ Bagel will also be the first outlet in the market to open early, serving customers from 10am to 4pm daily, making it the perfect spot for brunch, lunch or an afternoon bite.
The mouth-watering menu features dishes such as:
- The Classic Smash – creamy avocado topped with poached eggs and caramelised red onion chutney, finished with a dusting of chilli flakes.
- Chorizo Scramble – fluffy scrambled eggs paired with honey-glazed chorizo and roasted cherry tomatoes.
- The Big Brunch Bite – a full feast of Cumberland sausages, crispy bacon, eggs cooked your way, tater tots, beans, black pudding, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes.

For bagel lovers, there are four regular choices:
- The Breakfast One – Cumberland sausage, crispy bacon, fried egg, melted cheese and golden tater tots.
- The Club One – battered chicken, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise.
- The Caprese One – pesto, mozzarella, tomatoes, rocket and balsamic glaze.
- The Buffalo One – crispy chicken tenders in Frank’s Buffalo sauce, with coleslaw and pickles.
There’s also a simple Bagel with Cream Cheese, and a Bagel of the Month will soon be joining the menu.
Diners can also enjoy fluffy jacket potatoes with a choice of toppings and sauces, while younger visitors are treated to a Kids Lunch Box, complete with a sandwich, crisps, dried fruit, a mini Cake Corner brownie, plus a printout of Barry the Bagel, the brand’s friendly mascot, and colouring pencils.
With its fun concept, fresh flavours and family-friendly vibe, Brunch N’ Bagel is set to become Southport Market’s new go-to spot for a laid-back brunch experience.
Leanne Prescott said:
“I’m really excited to be opening Brunch N’ Bagel!
“It’s been inspired by my trips to New York, where I enjoyed trying lots of their delicious bagels.
“They were amazing. We don’t have anything similar to this in Southport so I thought it would do well.
“All the outlets in the market open at lunchtime so I thought we really needed somewhere that opened earlier too, offering some tasty brunches – we have some really healthy versions and some indulgent ones too!
“It’s somewhere new and exciting for people to come and try.
“I have seen the huge interest in jacket potatoes recently particularly among young people with the success of the likes of Spud Bros so I feel that is something that will be very popular here too.
“My team and I have been doing a lot of research, trying a lot of different things, and have taken on lots of feedback to make sure we get everything right.
“The response we have had about our ideas has been brilliant – people seem pretty excited about it!
“We are able to offer catering for events such as weddings, functions and parties which take place inside Southport Market too.
“One of the things we have introduced is special vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. We want everyone to be included.”
Leanne has seen her business thrive ever since she founded Cake Corner at home, aged 17, in 2018.
She opened her first Cake Corner shop in Hillside in 2021 and her outlet inside Southport Market six months later.
Cake Corner is a regular sight at big events including Southport Food & Drink Festival, Southport Flower Show, the Ainsdale Show and others.
Cake Corner also operates at Edge Hill University in Ormskirk five times a month.
There are 12 members of staff on the team.
Leanne is so pleased to be at Southport Market, she has now opened her second venture there.
She said:
“I love being in Southport Market. It has such a lovely family atmosphere and there are always so many great events happening.
“There are so many things taking place over the next few months, especially during October Half Term, around Halloween and in the lead-up to Christmas!
“Once the public realm improvements happening outside Southport Market are finished, it is going to be fantastic. Market Street is a superb site for events space and there will be lots of space for people to sit outside. It’s going to be the place to be next Spring and Summer!
“There are so many great local independent traders in the market, all selling something very different.
“Our meat at Brunch N’ Bagel comes from Blackhurst Butchers inside Southport Market. We all enjoy supporting each other.
“It’s a brilliant place to be and I hope people enjoy our brand new Brunch N’ Bagel.”
