Wine enthusiasts from Southport, Liverpool and across Merseyside are being invited to put their taste buds and wine knowledge to the test as The Grand Southport hosts a unique ‘Call My Bluff’ Spanish Wine Tasting night this summer.
Taking place on Thursday 4 June 2026, the special event promises an entertaining evening of fine wines, delicious food and plenty of laughter, all within the stunning surroundings of The Grand on Lord Street.
The interactive experience will be led by wine experts James Bretnall-Bennett and Tibu, who will present five carefully selected Spanish wines throughout the evening.
However, there’s a twist.
For each wine, both hosts will tell a story about its origins, production or history, but only one version will be true.
Guests will have to decide who is telling the truth and who is bluffing.
Call My Bluff Spanish Wine Tasting Southport Offers a Unique Outing

Unlike traditional wine tasting events, the ‘Call My Bluff’ format is designed to be relaxed, interactive and entertaining, making it perfect for both seasoned wine lovers and those simply looking for a fun night out.
As guests sample each wine, they will also enjoy five Spanish-inspired dishes specially created by The Grand’s Head Chef Lee Hibberd and his culinary team.
The dishes will be served sharing-style, encouraging conversation and creating a sociable dining experience.
The combination of expertly paired wines, authentic Spanish flavours and friendly competition is expected to make the evening one of the most talked-about events on Southport’s social calendar.
Popular Southport Wine Club Continues to Grow
The Grand’s regular Wine Club events have developed a loyal following in recent months, attracting guests from across Southport, Liverpool and the wider Merseyside region.
This latest event offers a fresh take on the popular format, blending wine education with entertainment and audience participation.
James Bretnall-Bennett said:
“Wine Club at The Grand has built up an excellent following in recent months.
“Our customers really know and appreciate their wines.
“We thought we’d introduce a new Call My Bluff Spanish-inspired wine tasting night with delicious Spanish food served in a sharing and family-style format.
“We want it to be really interactive, fun and engaging for guests.
“We will start with quite an easy one, and then as the courses go on, they will get progressively harder, will you guess them all right?”
With tickets expected to be in high demand, organisers are encouraging guests to book early and prepare for an evening of great wine, fantastic food and plenty of surprises.
