Liverpool’s culinary scene is set to take centre stage as NORD has announced that Executive Chef Daniel Heffy will compete in the upcoming series of Great British Menu.
Representing North West England, Heffy showcases his skills in the opening regional heat of the prestigious BBC Two competition, which begins on Tuesday, 24th February at 7 pm.
This year’s competition celebrates British movies and film-makers, with the ultimate goal of serving a winning dish at a prestigious banquet held at Liverpool’s own St George’s Hall.
Daniel Heffy, Executive Chef at NORD, said:
“It was an incredible experience to be part of such a well-established and respected programme.
“To cook alongside such talented chefs and represent the North West on a national stage was something I’m extremely proud of, and I’m excited for everyone to watch the series and see the creativity and passion that goes into the competition.”
Matt Farrell, Owner of GSG Hospitality, added:
“We’re incredibly proud to see Daniel representing both NORD and the North West on Great British Menu.
“His creativity, dedication and passion for regional produce are what define our kitchens, and this opportunity is a fantastic moment not only for Daniel but for the whole team in Liverpool.
“We’re excited for guests, colleagues and the wider hospitality community to watch his journey and support him throughout the competition.”
From Michelin Star Success to Liverpool Heritage

Born and raised in Liverpool, Heffy’s career began at 16 aboard Royal Navy vessels as part of the Sea Cadets before he completed formal training and refined his craft under chef Paul Askew.
He helped shape notable local ventures, including The Art School Restaurant, the Secret Diners Club supper series, and the popular Buyers Club.
His journey eventually took him to Stockholm, where he worked at the acclaimed three-Michelin-starred Frantzén and served as Head Chef at Adam/Albin, helping the latter secure its Michelin star.
In 2023, he returned home to launch NORD in partnership with GSG Hospitality, creating a menu that celebrates Northern heritage, seasonal produce, and regional suppliers.
Culinary Competition on National Television
The 2026 series is presented by Andi Oliver, with a judging panel featuring Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge, comedian Phil Wang, and Michelin-starred chef Lorna McNee.
Heffy’s menu for Great British Menu is a direct celebration of Liverpool and the films that are set and filmed there.
As the North West heats commence, viewers can witness how Heffy blends his international Nordic experience with his deep-rooted passion for his hometown’s cultural identity.
All three episodes from the North West heat will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer from the morning of 24 February, with the broadcast airing that evening on BBC Two.
