An eight-year-old girl from Wrexham had her dream come true when she met her music hero Tom Grennan, just days before she was due to undergo life-changing surgery at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
Izzy Busby, who has been a huge fan of the singer for years, was invited backstage at TK Maxx presents Live At Llangollen Pavilion after her family discovered Tom would be performing closer to home.
The special meeting came after Izzy had previously missed the chance to see Tom perform in Manchester after becoming too unwell to attend.
When her family found out he was playing at Llangollen, they quickly booked tickets, and thanks to Tom and his team, Izzy was able to meet her idol before the show.
Tom Grennan Fan Izzy Gets Emotional Backstage Surprise

Izzy’s mum Charlotte Busby, said the moment was incredibly special after watching her daughter face years of hospital appointments and treatment.
She said:
“We were supposed to see Tom in Manchester last year, but Izzy was too poorly to go.
“As soon as we saw he was playing in Llangollen, we knew we had to get tickets.
“Watching her meet her idol was just amazing.
“I was in floods of tears the whole time.
“Thank you to everyone who made this possible, it doesn’t happen to people like us, and we’re just so grateful.”
Charlotte added that Tom’s music has become a huge part of Izzy’s life, particularly during difficult times.
She said:
“I’ve been playing Tom’s music for years, and Izzy’s become a huge fan herself.
“She’s even made her own playlist for the hospital that’s made up entirely of Tom’s albums.”
Surgery At Alder Hey Children’s Hospital
Izzy was diagnosed with scoliosis shortly after her sixth birthday due to a heart condition and has since endured years of medical appointments, X-rays, MRIs, sleep studies and daily pain while waiting for surgery.
Speaking about her daughter’s journey, Charlotte said: “Izzy was diagnosed with scoliosis shortly after her sixth birthday due to a heart condition.
“She undergoes so many tests, X-rays, MRIs and recently a sleep study before surgery.
“Every day she’s in pain, but she still smiles through it all, knowing very soon she will be ‘straight and fixed’, in her own words.
“She remains my inspiration every single day.”
The surgery is due to take place at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, with Izzy and her family now looking ahead to the next stage of her journey.
After everything she has experienced, meeting Tom Grennan gave Izzy a special memory to treasure before her operation.
