Families across Knowsley can enjoy a summer packed with free outdoor activities, as parks and green spaces across the borough prepare to host a programme of nature trails, bug hunts, crafts and community events.

Throughout the school holidays, residents will have the chance to explore the outdoors, learn more about local wildlife and take part in activities designed to bring people together in some of Knowsley’s most popular parks.

The programme includes everything from mini-beast hunts and nature walks to litter picks, wildlife activities and nature-based crafts, offering plenty of ways for families to enjoy the summer without breaking the bank.

Free Family Activities Taking Place Across Knowsley This Summer

The summer programme will see events taking place across Huyton, Kirkby, Prescot, Whiston, Cronton, Knowsley Village and Halewood.

In Huyton, highlights include the Community Fun Day at West View Amenity Space on Saturday 11 July, followed by summer activities at Ten Acre Pits, Court Hey Park and McGoldrick Park.

Court Hey Park will also host some of the borough’s biggest summer events, including the Knowsley Feelgood Festival on Saturday 1 August and the Knowsley Flower Show on Sunday 2 August, both offering a full day of entertainment for visitors.

Families can also look forward to events including the Teddy Bear’s Picnic, Pride activity sessions and Rainbow in the Park.

In Kirkby, visitors can get closer to nature through a range of wildlife-focused events, including the Bioblitz at Millbrook Millennium Green, pond dipping at Northwood Forest Hills and a series of bug hunts celebrating National Moth Week.

Explore Knowsley’s Green Spaces During The School Holidays

Across Prescot, Whiston, Cronton and Knowsley Village, park rangers will be running nature-based activities where visitors can learn more about the environment and the wildlife around them.

Sessions will take place at locations including Henley Park, Stadt Moers Park, Cronton Pasture and Browns Field King George V Playing Field throughout August.

Meanwhile, Halewood will host a range of family-friendly activities including bug hunts, making bug homes and evening bat walks at Halewood Triangle Park.

The Knowsley Park Rangers will also be visiting local libraries during the summer holidays, giving children and families the chance to discover more about nature through interactive sessions.

Alongside the special summer events, Knowsley’s regular programme of health walks, Nordic walking sessions and volunteering opportunities will continue throughout the holidays.

All activities are free to attend, although some sessions require booking in advance. Organisers are also working to ensure activities are SEND-friendly, although visitors are advised that some events can become busy and take place in public outdoor spaces.

With family events, wildlife experiences and community activities happening across the borough, Knowsley residents will have plenty of opportunities to get outside and enjoy the summer holidays.
