The popular Hickory’s Smokehouse restaurant and neighbourhood bar in Southport has swung open its doors again this week following an exciting refresh.
The team have been busy behind the scenes, making changes to the interior and exterior of the much-loved restaurant to mark over seven years of Southern hospitality just a couple of miles outside the town centre, on Folkstone Road, Kew.

The restaurant & bar have both undergone a complete refresh. Guests can expect a warm & welcoming environment, with plenty of new seating, from booths to larger tables for groups and families to enjoy. The new-look bar area boasts additional seating, with better views of the multiple screens, perfect for catching all the latest local and American sports.
The garden has also been re-imagined with brand new seating, cosy new huts & lots of authentic Southern touches – it’s still the perfect spot even when the temperatures are more Southport than Southern States!

And of course, they haven’t forgotten younger guests! There is an all-new outdoor play area for them to enjoy in the garden, along with the much-loved Movie Room which has had a refresh too.
General Manager, Adam Findlay said:
‘We cannot wait to welcome guests back after our refresh. We have loved re-imagining our spaces and getting the place ready for more BBQ, sport and good times!” Adam, who started out as a server the day they opened the doors has been getting to know the locals for many years and is passionate about giving the community a truly authentic experience.
“We can’t wait to see what guests think of what we’ve done to the place. Hopefully we will see lots of familiar faces from the past 7 years and welcome some new guests over the next few weeks. It’s great to be back doing what we love – looking after our guests and firing up the smokers. The excitement is building and we’re looking busy so if you’re looking to joining us get yourself booked in.”

Known for their unique blend of authentic smokehouse dishes combined with an inventive drinks & cocktail offering, the Hickory’s team looks to welcome everyone and is famous for their inclusive, community-focused, family-friendly vibe. The menu is packed full of the flavours of the Deep South, with classic smokehouse dishes such as Memphis ribs, Texas-style brisket and BBQ pulled pork all smoked low ‘n’ slow in their “Southern Pride” smoker. And let’s not forget burgers, mac and cheese and steaks, alongside a tasty range of vegetarian options.
They’ve got you covered with quirky desserts, milkshakes, sodas, cocktails & a collection of over 25 bourbons to try, easy-drinking session ales and a selection of bottles & craft beers. Guests are equally welcome for drinks in the bar as they are for dining.

The brunch menu isn’t one to skip over either. Available every day until 2pm, you can look to enjoy southern staples like Hickory’s muffins, homemade pancakes, the chicken fried waffle and steak & eggs.
With generous portion sizes, smokehouse favourites, and more BBQ classics than you can handle, our advice is, arrive hungry and get ready to fall in love with the authentic tastes of the Southern States.
Hickory’s is open from midday Monday – Friday, 10am every Saturday & Sunday and they’re open until late every night of the week.
