Liverpool is getting ready for a new-look festive season in 2026, with Christmas markets, seasonal attractions and festive experiences bringing plenty of Christmas cheer to the city centre.
From the impressive surroundings of St George’s Hall to the city’s famous waterfront, visitors can look forward to Christmas shopping, delicious festive food, entertainment and family activities.

Skate St George’s – Liverpool Christmas Market
Location: St George’s Plateau, Liverpool, L1 1JJ
Dates: Saturday 21 November 2026 – Sunday 3 January 2027
Liverpool’s Christmas Market is taking on a new look for 2026, with Skate St George’s transforming the area outside the historic St George’s Hall into a festive destination.
Organised by Underbelly, the seasonal attraction will feature an outdoor ice rink alongside a Christmas market filled with local traders, seasonal food and drink, and entertainment.
Visitors can explore the market stalls, pick up Christmas gifts, enjoy a warming hot chocolate or mulled wine, and take in the festive atmosphere against one of Liverpool’s most recognisable landmarks.
A Big Wheel and rooftop bar will also form part of the experience, offering even more ways to enjoy a Christmas visit to the city centre.
Whether you’re planning a festive family outing, meeting friends or looking for Christmas shopping inspiration, Skate St George’s is set to be a popular addition to Liverpool’s festive calendar.
Liverpool Christmas Wonderland at the Pier Head
Location: Pier Head, Liverpool Waterfront
Dates: Friday 20 November 2026 – Sunday 3 January 2027
Liverpool’s iconic waterfront will be transformed into a Christmas destination as Liverpool Christmas Wonderland arrives at the Pier Head.
With the city’s famous Three Graces providing the backdrop, the attraction will feature a covered ice rink, 36 attractions and 28 food and drink units.
Visitors can look forward to traditional festive treats, seasonal drinks, games and rides, including an impressive 85-metre Star Flyer and attractions for younger visitors.
There’s also a Santa’s Grotto and Santa Sleigh Ride planned, making it another exciting destination for families celebrating Christmas in Liverpool.
Food lovers will have plenty to enjoy too, with everything from loaded Yorkshire puddings and pizzas to churros, crêpes, sweet treats and warming festive drinks.
Entry to Liverpool Christmas Wonderland will be free, with individual charges for skating, rides and other ticketed attractions.
The attraction is scheduled to open daily from 11am until 9pm, except Christmas Day.
Liverpool’s Christmas Pop-Up Markets
Locations: Basnett Street and Cunard Building, Liverpool

Alongside the city’s larger festive attractions, Liverpool will welcome a series of seasonal pop-up markets showcasing local and independent businesses.
Markets are planned for Basnett Street in the city centre and the Cunard Building on Liverpool’s waterfront, offering opportunities to discover independent traders and pick up something special in the run-up to Christmas.
The pop-up markets will provide another way to support local businesses while enjoying the festive atmosphere around Liverpool.

Santa Experiences in Liverpool 2026
Looking for somewhere to meet Father Christmas this year? Liverpool and the surrounding city region have plenty of magical Santa experiences for families to enjoy in the run-up to Christmas.

Santa at Knowsley Safari

Knowsley Safari is bringing plenty of Christmas magic to Merseyside this year, with a festive Santa’s Grotto experience alongside the return of its popular Enchanted light trail.
Families can visit Santa in his cosy grotto, where children will have the opportunity to share their Christmas wishes and receive a large plush toy gift to take home.
The grotto is available during selected daytime visits and evening Enchanted experiences, giving families flexibility when planning their festive outing.
Those visiting during Enchanted can also enjoy an illuminated trail featuring glowing animal installations, seasonal treats and a festive Winter Village.
A dedicated SEN-friendly Enchanted evening will take place on 9 December, offering a calmer festive environment for visitors with additional needs.

Santa’s Grotto at Dobbies Liverpool

Dobbies Liverpool will welcome Father Christmas back this festive season with its North Pole-inspired grotto experience.
Little ones can journey through a magical Christmas village, taking part in festive activities before meeting Santa himself.
Along the way, children can make a wish at the enchanted wishing well and explore the village’s themed shops, finishing their adventure at the Penguin Post Office.
Each family will enjoy dedicated time with Father Christmas, and children with a grotto ticket will receive a collectable penguin soft toy as a special Christmas gift.

The production features Bippo as Buttons, celebrating his tenth anniversary at The Auditorium, alongside Strictly Come Dancing star Neil Jones as Prince Charming, appearing from 20 December.
The cast also includes The Queen of Scotty Road as Dandini, Dominic Mattos as the Fairy Godmother, Rebecca Lake as Cinderella, and Orla Ridpath and Shelley Anne Rivers as the Ugly Sisters.

Written by Kevin Fearon, this festive production puts a distinctly Liverpool spin on the traditional Nativity story, combining local humour with the Royal Court’s familiar style of entertainment.
Expect plenty of laughs, memorable characters and a Christmas story told with a Scouse twist.

Buddy the Elf is heading to Liverpool this Christmas as BOST Musicals brings Elf The Musical to the Liverpool Empire.

Liverpool ONE is getting ready for a magical Christmas in 2026, with brand-new decorations, festive entertainment and activities for visitors of all ages.
One of the biggest additions is a spectacular 30-metre Christmas tree at Paradise Place, which visitors will be able to walk through for the first time.
The festive decorations will also include illuminated displays across Peter’s Lane, Keys Court and Peter’s Square, alongside returning favourites such as the giant bauble arch, reindeer and angel wings.
Families can look forward to the Christmas Toy Parade on Saturday 14 November, featuring dancing toys, festive characters and a colourful procession through Liverpool ONE.
Throughout December, Festive Thursdays will bring free entertainment, with performances from local choirs and community groups.
A new Wishmas celebration will also take place on Saturday 5 December, offering a day of free festive entertainment and opportunities to win prizes.

Noël at Liverpool Cathedral

Visitors will follow a journey through Christmas traditions, memories and the Nativity story, with the Cathedral’s arches, ceilings and stonework becoming part of the experience.
