MAMMA MIA! returns to Liverpool this winter as the hit musical takes over the Liverpool Empire for a festive run from Tuesday 8 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027.
Set on a Greek island and told through the music of ABBA, the musical follows Sophie as she prepares for her wedding and sets out to discover the identity of the father she has never known. Her search brings three men from her mum Donna’s past back into their lives, setting the scene for a story filled with romance, friendship, family and plenty of familiar songs.
Audiences can expect some of ABBA’s most recognisable hits woven throughout the story, including Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, Super Trouper, Take a Chance on Me and The Winner Takes It All.
Created by producer Judy Craymer, with music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus and a story by Catherine Johnson, MAMMA MIA! first opened in London in 1999 and has since been performed around the world.
The Liverpool run takes place throughout December and into the New Year, with a mixture of evening and matinee performances available.
