Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has today unveiled a brand new ‘Welcome Back’ programme of cruises to showcase the best of the British Isles this summer, with scenic-only cruises and those with ports of call available on new ship Borealis from Liverpool.

Borealis will be the first of the Fred. Olsen fleet to set sail since the company paused its operations last March, with six cruises to depart from the Liverpool in July and August.

The first will be the three-night scenic only ‘Borealis Maiden Voyage’, leaving Liverpool on 5th July 2021, with scenic sailings of the British Isles and the Faroe Islands to follow. There will also be chances to step ashore and explore in cruises to Scotland, the Orkney Islands and Shetland Islands too.

Peter Deer, Managing Director at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said:

“We are so excited to be unveiling these new summer cruises today. So often overlooked, our British Isles are home to some of the most wonderful wildlife, and so much spectacular scenery that is best enjoyed from the water.

“We have worked closely with Liverpool Cruise Terminal and offered sailings from the city for many, many years and our ships always get such a warm welcome there. It is ideally placed to allow us to offer some sensational sailings of the British Isles, from scenic Scotland to the Shetland and Orkney islands, all rich in wildlife, and even to showcase the dramatic shorelines or the Faroe Islands, in just five nights.

“This is an incredibly important milestone for our business, and we can’t wait to welcome our guests on board our new-look fleet this summer.”

Angie Redhead, Head Of Cruise and City Assets, Liverpool City Council said:

“We are delighted that UK domestic cruises can return this summer, following a long hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Liverpool Cruise Terminal can’t wait to see cruise ships back in their rightful place, on our world heritage waterfront and the inaugural visit of ‘Borealis’ will be a real highlight of the busy season ahead.

We look forward to working closely with Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, to support their return to operations in the UK, starting in Liverpool.”
