Claire House encourages January shoppers to shop-second hand

Claire House encourages January shoppers to shop-second hand

You may have some unwanted Christmas gifts – a jumper that’s not your style, a child’s toy you’ve already got or a gadget you’ll never use. Rather than stuffing them in your wardrobe, Claire House Children’s Hospice is encouraging shoppers to do something good and donate them to charity.

By doing so, you can help seriously and terminally ill babies, children and young adults, and their families across Merseyside and beyond. And, at the same time, you can have a shopping spree in one of the Claire House charity shops now you’ve cleared some space.

Claire House encourages January shoppers to shop-second hand

Here’s how to make the most of January by donating your gifts to charity and treating yourself to some great finds in your local charity shop.

1. Have a Clear Out

Start your new year by decluttering. Donating unwanted gifts to charity is a great way to give something back and make room for the items you love.

Don’t forget, if you’re a UK tax payer, you can add Gift Aid.

2. Support Your Local Children’s Hospice

Now more than ever, charities need your help. Giving away your unwanted gifts to Claire House Children’s Hospice shops ensures that babies, children and young adults benefit from your generosity. And you’ll feel even better about your January shopping knowing you’re giving back.

3. Know what to donate

While the types of charity shop donations received post-Christmas don’t tend to change, Claire House typically sees an increase in children’s toys and childrenswear.

Bestsellers remain consistent, including:

  • Ladies’ tops
  • Menswear
  • Shoes, bags, and fashion accessories
  • Unwanted presents
  • Childrenswear
  • Toys
  • Furniture
  • Bric-a-brac

4. Don’t just shop the January Sales

With your unwanted items gone, it’s time to treat yourself!

And while the January sales can bring great deals, you can also find new clothes, accessories, toys and even furniture in your local charity shop.

From fashion to gadgets, you can pick up the presents you’ll use and can enjoy all year long, while also helping the environment.

5. Shopping for January birthday gifts?

Why not pick up a Charity Shop Gift Card, which can be spent in a Claire House charity shop. This makes for a thoughtful birthday gift which also supports children and families who need help at the toughest of times.
