Arrowe Park Golf Club proudly hosted its annual fundraising event for Claire House this June, welcoming over 170 golfers from across the region for the C.W. Jones Open.
The event, organised by the club’s dedicated events committee, offered a lively mix of competition and entertainment, including raffles, a long-putting contest, golf auction, BBQ, and a wide selection of prizes. Despite a damp start, spirits stayed high, and players were soon teeing off under blue skies. Thanks to the greenkeeping team, the course provided a fair yet rewarding challenge throughout the day.
Extra fundraising opportunities were built into the competition, with challenges like ‘nearest the pin,’ ‘nearest the tap,’ ‘longest drive,’ and a special raffle for anyone landing the ball on the 8th hole’s par-three green in a single shot, all in aid of raising money for Claire House.
After play wrapped up, participants gathered at the clubhouse for food, drinks, and an exciting memorabilia auction, continuing to raise vital funds for the charity.
This year’s winners were P. Bradshaw and J. Rogers (Bowring GC), who each took home £200 vouchers to spend at Lauries Jewellers in Wallasey. Runners-up included:
- 2nd Place: T. Sherman / D. Sherman (Manchester GC / South Herts. GC)
- 3rd Place: C. Nation / D. Nation (Irby GC)
- 4th Place: A. Hurst / L. Wynne (Leasowe GC / Prenton GC)
In total, the event raised an impressive £5,707.27 for Claire House, which provides essential end-of-life care and family support for children and young adults with life-limiting conditions. This brings the total amount raised by APGC for Claire House over the years to more than £33,000.
Arrowe Park Golf Club extends its heartfelt thanks to all the local businesses who contributed to the day’s success, through sponsorships, donations, food, transport, and generous support.
