Families across Wirral can access more affordable days out this summer, thanks to reduced ticket prices at the Floral Pavilion and Bidston Sports & Activity Centre.
As part of the Government’s Great British Summer Savings initiative, VAT has been reduced from 20% to 5% on selected children’s and family activities, with the savings being passed directly on to customers at both venues.
At the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton, the reduced rate applies to children’s and family theatre tickets, while at Bidston Sports & Activity Centre it covers all admission fees to the popular Soft Play and Tag Active zones.
Discounted children’s menu meals at both venues are also included in the scheme, which is scheduled to run until 1 September 2026.
The Leader of Wirral Council, Councillor Paula Basnett, welcomed the changes, noting that days out are incredibly important for families during the long school holidays.
She expressed delight that the local authority could pass the financial savings on directly, allowing more young people to stay entertained, active, and engaged over the summer months, adding that the increased affordability makes it an ideal time for residents to visit the facilities.
Family Productions Scheduled For The Floral Pavilion Stage
The price drops will apply to a variety of upcoming family-friendly events and performances scheduled at the New Brighton coastal theatre.
Early July brings ‘A Night at The Tower’ as part of the broader New Brighton Arts Festival, followed in August by the illusionist production ‘It’s Not a Game’, starring award-winning magicians Jay & Joss.
Mid-August will also see the return of the popular children’s franchise ‘In The Night Garden Live!’ for a series of interactive weekend performances.
Full scheduling details and direct booking facilities can be found on the official Floral Pavilion website here.
Discounted Indoor Sports And Interactive Play At Bidston
Away from the theatre, the tax reductions are being applied directly to active entertainment options at the Bidston hub to encourage youth fitness during the break.
The discounts cover the multi-tiered Soft Play area, which is specifically designed for children aged up to seven and features three floors of slides, climbing structures, and tunnels, alongside a separate sensory zone for babies and toddlers.
Older children aged eight and above can access the Tag Active arena, a three-level obstacle course that tests speed and balance using a live digital scoring system.
Both activity zones host dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) sessions featuring reduced capacity to ensure an accessible experience, with full booking information hosted on the Active Wirral website here.
