Superlekka to open £2m ‘Game Show Olympics’ venue in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle

A groundbreaking new competitive socialising concept designed for the “armchair Olympian” is coming to Liverpool this autumn.

Superlekka will immerse players in a retro sports stadium setting, with a series of interactive games combining cutting-edge technology with the nostalgic, high-stakes excitement of classic game shows.

Described as a “Game Show Olympics”, the new venue is designed to offer seriously unserious competition, with no athletic ability or previous skill required.

Superlekka is the brainchild of Kip Piper, former creative director and co-founder of nationwide entertainment concept Golf Fang.

Bringing more than a decade of experience in reshaping the UK’s competitive socialising scene, Piper’s latest venture is backed by a £2 million investment and co-funded alongside Daniel Gillbanks and David Scowcroft, founders of Liverpool’s PINS Social Club.

The new attraction will also create 30 jobs in the local area.

Piper explains:

“Superlekka is a true ‘games for the people. The events are designed to bring people together, creating a fun competition where every player has a genuine chance to be crowned the ‘Champ.’ I wanted to create a place to enjoy the energy that comes from playing games and I really can’t wait to get people through the doors to experience that.”

Each event has been designed to be fun and intuitive, testing a range of completely different abilities, from hand-eye coordination to general knowledge.

Piper adds:

“Whether stepping up for a round of giant beer pong, standing behind the podium of a quiz show, or tackling a frantic, ‘Supermarket Sweep’-style event, the sheer variety levels the playing field and guarantees everyone will be good at something.”

“We are delighted to be backing such a creative, vibrant, and innovative concept,” says PINS co-founder Daniel Gillbanks. “The dedication to detail in creating a fully immersive stadium environment is what truly sets it apart. By creating such a unique space with live digital technology, Superlekka won’t just elevate competitive socialising, it’s defining the entirely new category of sportstainment.”

Located in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle, the sprawling venue will be transformed into a highly stylised retro stadium, with a deliberately deadpan commitment to its sporting aesthetic providing the backdrop for the gameplay.

Following 12 months of research, development and extensive prototyping alongside specialist technology innovators, the Superlekka team has created its own proprietary “digital spine”.

The custom-built technology connects every event into one unified competition, with scoring handled automatically throughout the experience.

Players will simply tap their RFID wristbands to register their gameplay, with scores appearing on real-time leaderboards as they progress around the venue.

Superlekka will also feature a large central bar serving an expertly curated cocktail menu and extensive beer selection, while recognising changing habits among customers who increasingly want social experiences that do not revolve solely around drinking.

A dedicated guest car park was therefore a key factor in choosing the venue, while Superlekka has also partnered with local favourite West Coast Coffee.

The central bar will be open to everyone, meaning visitors will not need to take part in the games to enjoy the venue.

Whether heading in for a midweek date over iced coffees or joining a large weekend gathering with drinks, guests will be able to soak up the stadium atmosphere without booking a competitive session.

Superlekka will initially launch as an exclusively over-18s destination, positioning itself as a new adults-only playground in the city.

The concept will then expand at Christmas with the introduction of Superlekka Juniors.

Dedicated family tickets will allow players aged 13 and over to take part during selected daytime sessions, before the venue transitions back to an adults-only destination in the evenings.
