Bringing you a brand new place to eat and drink, The Rocking Horse, Liverpool’s newest pub opened last week on Great Charlotte Street in Liverpool City Centre – known to locals as “the top of town.”
The site of The Rocking Horse which is housed in the former TSB bank which closed several years ago is another addition by Pub Invest Group to the busy strip of sites along the right-hand side of the Great Charlotte Street and adds to other venues owned by the group in the area such as Celtic Corner and Ruby Blues.
Pride of place in the small intimate pub sits Blackie, the rocking horse which helped to make generations of Liverpool children happy. He was the much-loved highlight of Blackler’s children’s clothing department and later Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
The site sits in what was the old Blacklers department store building which was famous for its Christmas grotto and eventually closed its doors for the final time in 1988 and the name and Rocking Horse is a nod back to times gone by.
The General Manager of the Rocking Horse Megan Parkhill said:
“We were originally due to open the site in the Winter but due to lockdown and the ongoing pandemic we left opening until Summer.
The Rocking Horse is a small welcoming venue which adds to the already fantastic array of sites along Great Charlotte Street. We are happy to now have the site open and look forward to hospitality slowly moving back to some form of normality over the coming months.”
The new city centre pub comes with an extensive food and drinks menu, giving you a complete package and there’s also live music and all the biggest sporting events are shown LIVE on one of the many screens.
