St. Joseph’s Hospice, located on Ince Road in Thornton near Crosby, is inviting the local community to its much-loved Summer Garden Party this Sunday, 22nd June, from 12pm to 4pm.
The event promises a great day out for the whole family, featuring traditional games, live entertainment, craft and gift stalls, and a variety of refreshments, all in support of raising essential funds for the hospice.

No garden party would be complete without a BBQ, chilled drinks, and sweet treats. Visitors can enjoy a glass of prosecco or beer alongside cakes, hot and cold drinks, and homemade pizzas and pancakes served from the hospice’s brand-new Bake Box. Also on offer: fresh breads, chutneys, and even ‘pup star’ biscuits for any canine companions.
Back by popular demand is the beloved Teddy Bear Parade, a tradition that’s delighted generations of local children. Kids are encouraged to bring their favourite teddy to take part in a woodland garden parade, with prizes awarded for Best Dressed, Most Unusual, and Oldest Teddy.
As an independent charity, St. Joseph’s Hospice has been delivering end-of-life care to local families for over 50 years. With daily running costs of £11,500, events like the Summer Garden Party play a vital role in securing the hospice’s future.

Zoë Furnivall, community and events fundraiser for St. Joseph’s Hospice, said:
“We love to celebrate with our local community each summer, and this year we have gone a bit retro with lots of traditional games and family fun for you all to enjoy, so please bring along your family and friends and show your support to the hospice. It’s free entry but please bring lots of cash for the games and tombolas.
“We still need of bottles of prosecco before the day so, if you can donate any, please drop them in at the hospice this week. We hope to see you there!”
