The Southport Flower Show has introduced a brand-new feature for its upcoming event, which is the Buskers Corner Stage, to highlight aspiring regional musicians.
Supported by the local company Moonlight Events, the platform is designed to enable singers, guitarists, and duos to perform before a live audience at one of the Liverpool City Region’s most popular annual gatherings.
Drawing roughly 55,000 visitors over its four-day run, the UK’s largest independent flower show offers a high-profile platform for emerging performers who are looking to gain experience and build their repertoire.
Organisers are currently seeking applications from local talent to fill the remaining slots across the weekend. Interested artists can submit their details here.
The main event, sponsored by Ramsay Health Care, will take place at Victoria Park from Thursday, 20 to Sunday, 23 August 2026.
Alongside the new musical showcase, attendees can expect traditional show gardens, grand floral displays, amateur grower exhibitions, and a wide-ranging programme of family entertainment.
Industry Support for the Next Generation of Performers
Southport-based Moonlight Events is heading the production of the new stage. Managed by production manager Scott Mackin, the firm specialises in event infrastructure, staging, lighting, and sound across the UK.
The project marks the fifth consecutive year the company has partnered with the horticultural show, alongside their ongoing infrastructure support for other major regional events like the Southport Food and Drink Festival.
The physical stage will be positioned near the main entrance and the central event office, ensuring high footfall for the artists involved.
Rather than hosting large-scale ensembles, the area is deliberately structured to offer a more personal, low-key setting tailored for individual buskers and acoustic acts.
Local Ticket Discounts and Admission Details
Flexible early bird tickets are currently available online, allowing entry on any single day of the four-day event.
Children under the age of 16 are granted free admission when accompanied by a paying adult.
Special regional discounts are also available for Southport residents within the PR8 and PR9 postcode areas, offering a £12 saving on standard gate prices when purchased in advance.
Local residents can secure these discounted rates by presenting proof of address at several designated physical outlets across the town, including The Atkinson on Lord Street, Waterstones on Chapel Street, Busy Body’s in Birkdale Village, Checkers in Churchtown Village, and the Lions Charity Shop in Ainsdale Village.
Scott Mackin, production manager at Moonlight Events, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, noting that it brings a fresh element to the long-standing summer event.
He said:
“We’re very delighted to be supporting Buskers Corner at this year’s Southport Flower Show!
“It’s a brand new initiative which will add something new and exciting to the event.
“It’s an idea that Southport Flower Show General Manager Alan Adams had and when we spoke with him about it, it seemed like the perfect thing to become involved with.
“As a Southport business which is very invested in our local community, we are eager to provide a platform for emerging local talent to come and show what you can do at this major event.
“The location will be near the main entrance, near the Southport Flower Show office, so it’s a brilliant opportunity to show what you can do.
“We have had some very talented people sign up already, and we have spaces for more. You might be someone who loves singing and is looking for an opportunity; you might be someone who is busking or performing already.
“Southport Flower Show is far more than a flower show.
“It’s also famous for its packed programme of entertainment and live music, with some great acts performing across the four days from bands, to choirs, and many more.
“Buskers Corner is different – it’s relatively low-key. It could be you singing, or you playing a guitar, it’s all about giving an opportunity to talented local musicians and offering an experience you’ll never forget.”
