A group of local photographers are celebrating a major milestone after launching their first public exhibition at one of Prescot’s biggest cultural venues.
Prescot Photo Club is showcasing a collection of photography at Shakespeare North Playhouse, celebrating creativity, community and the different perspectives of photographers from across the area.
The exhibition is now open and runs until Saturday, July 25, giving visitors the chance to explore a range of images created by members of the club.
Local Photographers Showcase Creativity In Prescot Exhibition
Prescot Photo Club was formed after a group of local photographers took part in Historic England’s Picturing High Streets project in 2023, which was led in Prescot by photographic artist Tony Mallon.
Following the project, the group officially formed Prescot Photo Club in June 2024 with support from Open Eye Galleryand Tony, bringing together photographers of all abilities who wanted to develop their skills in a welcoming and non-competitive environment.
Through regular meetings, workshops and photography outings, members have been able to share ideas, learn new techniques and build friendships through their shared passion.
The exhibition at Shakespeare North Playhouse features work from photographers at different stages of their creative journey, showcasing a variety of styles, subjects and individual viewpoints.

“We are incredibly proud to be holding our first exhibition at Shakespeare North Playhouse, one of the North West’s most exciting cultural venues.
“Our members have worked hard to create a collection that reflects not only their individual artistic visions but also the spirit of collaboration and friendship that defines our club.
“We hope visitors will enjoy exploring the work and seeing the world through our lenses.”
The exhibition is free to visit during Shakespeare North Playhouse opening hours, with visitors able to view photography from members with a range of experience levels.
The event highlights the growing creative scene in Prescot and the opportunities available for local artists and communities to share their work in the town’s cultural spaces.
Prescot Photo Club’s first exhibition will remain on display at Shakespeare North Playhouse until July 25.
