A Liverpool illustrator has created a striking new window mural celebrating the city’s creative heritage, with the artwork now on display at a Starbucks coffeehouse in the city centre.
Local artist Victoria Turner has transformed the windows of the Ranelagh Street Starbucks as part of the Made in Starbucks campaign, creating one of just seven artist-designed murals appearing across the UK.
The vibrant artwork celebrates Liverpool’s world-famous music scene, featuring musical notes inspired by The Beatles, alongside abstract leaves and berries representing the coffee plant.
At the centre of the design is the quote: “Ideas that start from nowhere must come from somewhere,” reflecting Victoria’s belief that creativity is shaped by the places people visit, the conversations they have and the communities around them.
Tribute to Liverpool’s creative identity
Victoria created the mural to celebrate the city’s unique artistic and musical history, with The Beatles providing a major source of inspiration for the design.
The Liverpool illustrator and sign-maker said the city’s creative heritage made musical references a natural choice, while the wider artwork represents how ideas can develop from everyday experiences.
The installation forms part of Windows to Creativity, a project within Starbucks’ Made in Starbucks campaign celebrating artists and creative communities across the UK.
The campaign has seen Starbucks coffeehouse windows transformed into public artworks inspired by local culture, creativity and the communities surrounding each location.
From lockdown project to successful mural business
Victoria first began painting windows during the COVID-19 lockdown, creating artwork to brighten up her local community as restrictions began to ease.
What started as a voluntary project eventually developed into a full-time creative career. After studying at Manchester School of Art, Victoria launched her mural business in 2023 and has since worked on projects across the UK.
Her previous work includes the popular Harry Styles mural at Holmes Chapel railway station, which attracted attention from fans and visitors.
Victoria’s Liverpool mural will remain on display at the Starbucks coffeehouse on Ranelagh Street until September, giving residents and visitors the chance to see the artwork throughout the summer.
The installation adds another creative feature to Liverpool’s city centre while celebrating the music, people and ideas that continue to shape the city’s identity.
