New LFC mural is heading to The Sandon Pub

The Sandon Pub is getting a new LFC mural and this time it will be voted for by the clubs fans.

The new social sports app, Sportening, creates a community for fans all around the world – has invited renowned Scouse artist John Culshaw to create five different murals, all of which are of Liverpool legends.

LFC fans can cast their vote and decide which mural is their favourite and should cover the walls of The Sandon Pub – the birthplace of the football club. They can do this by downloading the Sportening app.

The Sandon is an LFC institution and the venue where the club was formed back in 1892. It has stood the test of time having welcomed millions of fans from all over the world since it opened.

From Jurgen Klopp on Jamaica Street, to Trent Alexander-Arnold on Sybil Road where Jordan Henderson can also be seen, to Henderson and Hanson lifting their trophies on Old Barn Road, to the Ode to Mo on Basnett Street and the LFC celebrations on Bold Street, John Culshaw’s latest artwork will join the numerous murals celebrating the history and success of LFC.

Fans will vote on artwork of Steven Gerrard, Bob Paisley, Jerzy Dudek, Sami Hyppiä and Robbie Fowler – all of which are very worthy winners.

To cast your vote, simply download Sportening app on Google Play or your app store. Sign up and choose Liverpool FC as your team, cast your vote on Liverpool FC’s team tab. And then enjoy Sportening – where fans come first!

John Culshaw, who has created a number of impressive murals around the city centre, said:

“When Sportening approached me, I immediately said yes. It’s so rare that the fans are the ones that get to have a say in something as important as this – honouring the legends of Liverpool Football Club at the place where it all began.”

Kate Stewart, owner of The Sandon Pub and Complex, added:

“I love the idea of fans voting for the mural. After all, football has always been about the fans and their love for the game, and The Sandon has always been there for the club and the fans too. The Sandon is about building community and creating a sense of belonging. Every vote counts and fans from all over the world will have their own imprint on the institution that is so close to their hearts.”

Ivan Klaric, founder of Sportening, said:

“Sportening has been created for fans, with myself and the team working very closely with 1,000 LFC fans from all over the world in the development of the app itself to ensure we delivered the features that were necessary for them to have the best experience. We’re built on community and bringing LFC fans together to vote on a mural of a legend was really important to us. All five pieces of artwork are incredible and we’re very excited to see who the fans will choose as their winning mural that will ultimately be displayed on The Sandon for all to see and enjoy”
