Metquarter will be transformed into a vibrant destination for shopping and creativity at the end of this month as its popular market returns for a summer edition.
Run by local artists Freida McKitrick and Clare Ellis, the free event will showcase an array of handmade goods, artisan treats and independent brands, highlighting the best of Liverpool’s thriving creative community.
Taking place on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 June on the ground floor of the centre between 11 am and 5 pm, shoppers can explore a curated selection from 29 local artisans offering everything from handcrafted jewellery and artwork to summer gifts, as well as enjoying live entertainment from local artist Lucy Sings.
With the warmer months here, it’s the perfect opportunity to find unique, locally made items that are truly one-of-a-kind.
The Art Quarter Summer Market will host stalls from crafters, including The Felt Factory, run by Liverpool-based independent maker Gill, who creates handcrafted whimsical felt figures and decorations.
Her charming hand-stitched creations are made from 100% wool felt and are full of character.
Le Vechi Sweets, a Liverpool-based artisan bakery specialising in authentic Brazilian treats and handmade sweets, will also be at the market for the first time, where visitors will have the opportunity to purchase their delicious range of traditional Brazilian bakes and confectionery.
The Alt Creative returns to the Art Quarter Market this June. Bringing the wonders of the natural world indoors, each ethically sourced specimen is beautifully presented in a handcrafted entomology frame.
Whether you’re looking for a unique statement piece or are an avid collector, be sure to visit The Alt Creative at the market.
Liverpool-based Joyfulso2c will also appear with a range of beautifully handcrafted crochet items, including key chains, toys and accessories.
Each piece is lovingly made using traditional crochet techniques, with different hook sizes and yarns creating unique and distinctive designs.
New Friday and Saturday Format for Weekend Shoppers

For the first time, this year’s Art Quarter Summer Market is moving to a Friday and Saturday format to give the stallholders more opportunity to showcase their work across a busy weekend in Liverpool.
The shift in scheduling aims to capture both weekday city workers and weekend shoppers, maximising exposure for the independent brands involved.
Local artists Freida McKitrick and Clare Ellis first met back in 2012 at the ‘2D At Market’, held at the prestigious Bluecoat in Liverpool, where they shared the same drive and passion – helping other creatives showcase their work in public.
They have showcased their work at many markets in the city over the years, and Metquarter has played a pivotal role in supporting the pair, providing Freida and Clare with a platform to champion and support independent artists and makers through their shop and art markets.
Organisers Driven to Support Independent Makers

The long-standing partnership between the organisers and the retail hub highlights a shared commitment to keeping the city’s independent retail sector thriving.
Freida and Clare said:
“Liverpool’s creative scene is something truly special, and these markets are our way of being part of it.
“We’ve always believed that great work deserves to be seen, and that’s what drives us.
“The Friday is an exciting new step for us, and we’d love for people to come down on both days, meet the makers and find something they love.
“We can’t wait to see everyone there.”
With free entry and an exciting mix of stalls to explore, the Art Quarter Summer Market promises something for everyone.
