Liverpool’s iconic Magical Mystery Tour has once again claimed the top spot in TripAdvisor’s prestigious Travellers’ Choice Awards 2026, ranking number one in the UK, fourth in Europe, and fifth worldwide.
Operated by Cavern City Tours, owners of the world-famous Cavern Club, the Magical Mystery Tour is the longest-running Beatles sightseeing tour in the UK and has been welcoming visitors from across the globe for more than 43 years.
The tour celebrates the city’s unique musical heritage by telling the story of the Beatles’ formative years through the places that inspired them.
This latest award places the experience alongside some of the world’s most renowned travel activities, including Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail, Edinburgh Castle, Loch Ness, and leading cultural tours in cities such as Barcelona.
A Global Benchmark for Excellence
The announcement was made today by Tripadvisor, the world’s largest travel guidance platform, as part of its annual awards recognising the highest-rated experiences worldwide.
These rankings are based on millions of independent reviews and ratings from Tripadvisor’s global community collected over 12 months.
Jon Keats, Director of The Cavern Club, commented on the achievement:
“We are incredibly proud that the Magical Mystery Tour continues to be recognised as one of the experiences recognised not just in the UK, but anywhere in the world.
“For more than four decades, our guides, drivers and team have been sharing Liverpool’s story with Beatles fans from every corner of the globe, and this award is a huge credit to their passion, knowledge and commitment.”
Previously recognised in 2024 within the Cultural and Historical Attractions category, the tour has continued to rise through the global rankings, moving from 8th to 5th worldwide and achieving 4th place in Europe.
Impact on the Local Visitor Economy
Carrying more than 80,000 passengers each year, the Magical Mystery Tour plays a significant role in Liverpool’s £6.25bn visitor economy, reinforcing the city’s status as a leading cultural tourism destination.
The tour provides an authentic and local way for fans to connect with the legacy of the Beatles.
Laurel Greatrix, Chief Communications Officer for Tripadvisor Group, highlighted the significance of the win:
“This is hard-won recognition, shaped by millions of travellers who booked, showed up, and rated what was actually worth their time.
“There’s a clear theme in this year’s winners: they bring out what makes a destination unique. These aren’t experiences that simply fill an itinerary; they’re the experiences that give you a better way to understand a place.”
For the team at Cavern City Tours, the recognition is a testament to the enduring appeal of the Fab Four and the city they called home.
Jon Keats added that the Beatles put Liverpool on the map, and the tour allows the legacy to be celebrated in an entertaining and proudly local way.
He noted that seeing visitors experience the city through the music the team grew up with is something that never gets old.
