Liverpool Cathedral is set to sprinkle some extra seasonal magic across the city this month, as it launches a special festive gift hunt to mark the return of its much-loved Light Before Christmas experience.
On Friday 21 November from 1pm, a striking red gift box wrapped in gold ribbon will be hidden at three iconic city centre locations, giving people the chance to uncover exclusive Light Before Christmas tickets – plus a bundle of themed surprise treats. Prizes include two £50 Liverpool ONE vouchers, a £50 St Johns Shopping Centre voucher and a pair of tickets to the Southport Flower Show.
The playful activation is inspired by this year’s Light Before Christmas theme: The Gift. Created by the internationally acclaimed Luxmuralis team, the theme explores the gift of peace, the gift of Christmas, and the remarkable way the Cathedral itself was gifted to the city by the very people who built it.
Those keen to take part should keep a close eye on Liverpool Cathedral’s social media channels, where clues will be shared ahead of the big day. More hints will be revealed as the gift hunt unfolds on Friday, helping participants track down the hidden boxes. Find one, look inside, and the prize is yours.
Light Before Christmas has become a firm festive favourite, drawing thousands of visitors each year and selling out time and again. For many, Christmas in Liverpool truly begins with a visit to the Cathedral to experience the breathtaking light and sound installation. With tickets once again in high demand, this year’s edition promises to be more magical than ever.
Alissa Koopal, Director of Enterprise, said:
“At this time of year, there’s an abundance of wonderful Christmas shows, pantomimes, and performances to enjoy; each bringing its own special sense of magic and family tradition. Among them, Light Before Christmas at Liverpool Cathedral manages to stand out as something truly unique. For me, Light Before Christmas is one of those experiences family’s look forward to year after year. With this in mind, we wanted to have some fun and give everyone – both long-time fans of the event and first-time attendees – something special to enjoy: a gift hunt for tickets and even more prizes.”
