Iconic waterfront build-to-rent development The Keel undergoes enhancing refurbishment

Legacy building, The Keel is undergoing a refurbishment enhancing its rental experience for residents of central Liverpool.

Located on a private quay at Queen’s Dock, the former HMRC offices, which were converted into waterside apartments in 2015, is now in the midst of an upgrade to transform its communal areas and services, including a £300K upgrade to the north lobby, to firmly establish the legacy building amongst Liverpool’s most desirable build-to-rent developments.

The re-design will bring a sophisticated new residents’ lounge and lobby as well as state of the art co-working spaces to further enhance this already iconic apartment building and cater to the rise in home working.

Available exclusively to renters, The Keel provides residents with a balance of community, waterside serenity and the thrill of inner city living. The development also offers its residents a calendar of regular social activities including online yoga classes, wine and cheese nights and virtual cook-a-longs, combined with modern apartments and excellent onsite facilities, professionally managed and overseen by specialist rental operator, Allsop.

Build-to-Rent is one of the fastest growing property trends in the UK and is professionalising the rental experience with a flexible resident friendly approach, all managed online by a professional, tech-enabled operator.

The ongoing improvements bring residents at The Keel a new 24-hour management team, complementary coffee facilities and a bespoke no-touch resident parcel storage solution that residents can operate and manage from their mobile phone.

The development is also making positive changes to its carbon footprint, switching to a green electricity tariff, utilising solar panels on the North and South of the building and installing new energy efficient LED lighting throughout the internal and external areas of the building ultimately reducing the impact on the environment.

The new facilities complement the development’s existing schedule of residential perks, which include free access to an on-site gym and fitness centre, 24-hour concierge and communal outdoor space with unmissable waterfront views of Liverpool’s dockland. Apartments are available in furnished and unfurnished options and come in stylish designs, with inbuilt integrated appliances, premium furniture packages and new Hyperoptic internet service with new Wi-Fi routers installed within each individual apartments.

Thanks to its fantastic riverside location and private dock, The Keel is at the forefront of Liverpool’s rapidly expanding build-to-rent movement. Residents can benefit from the calm of waterside living, whilst being just minutes away from the buzz of Albert’s Dock as well as a host of on-trend foot and drinks establishments at Liverpool’s unique Baltic Triangle.

Lesley Roberts Build to Rent Partner at Allsop comments:

“Liverpool’s historic dock has long been appealing to renters thanks to its combined waterfront and city location, in addition to its abundance of iconic architecture.

“The HMRC building is an iconic piece of Liverpool history and we’re pleased to be able to enhance this historic and fantastic space to redefine what residents can expect from their living experience.

“Despite being a relatively new sector, Liverpool’s Build-to-Rent scene is quickly gathering traction and we have no doubt that the new enhancements to The Keel, combined with the period features, unbeatable location and waterfront views will impress young families and young professionals alike.”

Kate Howell, General Manager at The Keel added:

“The Keel offers the perfect balance for renters – situated within walking distance of exciting Liverpool hotspots such as Albert Dock and the Baltic Triangle – it also offers a calm residence with waterside views perfect for escaping city life.

“We’re confident in the location and accommodation offering – which will suit professionals and families seeking luxury accommodation with flexible lease terms and a close-knit community.”

The Keel is a Built to Rent development of 240 studio, one, two, and three-bedroom apartments, situated on Liverpool’s iconic waterfront just a few minutes’ walk from the Albert Dock and the city centre. The apartments, available exclusively to rent, offer fantastic facilities for residents, while its location ensures easy access to central Liverpool and transport links.
