One of Southport town centre’s most distinctive café bars is celebrating its fifth birthday with a special party this Friday.
House Of Ivy, on Lord Street, will mark five years in business on Friday, 21 August 2026, inviting customers to join the celebrations with food and drink deals and a party atmosphere throughout the day and into the evening.

The popular venue has become well known for its eye-catching interior, with colourful foliage covering the walls and ceiling and its instantly recognisable ‘God Is A DJ’ sign overlooking the DJ booth.
House Of Ivy is also home to its popular Singalong Bottomless Brunch, where local singer Hayley Murray and DJs provide a lively soundtrack to weekend celebrations.
Away from the weekend party atmosphere, the venue operates as a café bar with a varied food menu featuring pizzas, salads, sandwiches and cakes alongside gluten-free choices and its World Of Slimmers healthy menu.
House Of Ivy is operated by well-known Southport businessman Paul ‘Spender’ Drewery, who has spent many years working in the town’s hospitality industry.
Paul was previously head bartender at the iconic Maloney’s Bar on Lord Street before going on to oversee the bars inside the Scarisbrick Hotel under General Manager Tony Cafferkey.
During his time there, Paul led the talented Maloney’s team which earned a Best in the World title for flair bartending.
He later opened Bar Humbug, which became Spender’s Bar, on Scarisbrick Avenue and operated it alongside House Of Ivy before closing Spender’s Bar two years ago.
Paul has also been a strong supporter of local causes and the wider Southport community.
He hosted the popular Jail and Bail fundraiser in aid of Queenscourt Hospice before taking part in the charity’s Strictly-style dancing fundraiser at the Prince Of Wales Hotel last December.
Now House Of Ivy is preparing to celebrate another milestone as it marks five years since opening its doors in Southport.
Customers are invited to visit the Lord Street venue throughout Friday to join the fifth birthday celebrations.

Paul said:
“And just like that, we are five years old! It doesn’t feel like five minutes since we opened our doors to you all!
“It’s been a rollercoaster ride and we hope you have enjoyed it as much as we have!
“Over the past five years we have served thousands of our famous Bottomless Brunches, have had the pleasure of listening to great music from great DJs, and have employed some of the greatest staff I’ve ever worked with in hospitality – and there’s been a lot!
“More importantly, I’ve made some great friends along the way, whether they have been new customers to begin with or the great people I work with.
“I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”
Preparations are now underway for the fifth birthday this Friday.
Paul said:
“I opened the doors at House Of Ivy on Friday 20th August 2021, and wanted to mark our birthday on a Friday too.
“We are going to celebrate this Friday, and we have the lovely Ellie Jane behind the decks with her infectious energy from 7pm!
“We are running birthday offers throughout the day that day.
“Between 12pm and 5pm, buy a burger from our menu and receive a free drink such as a pint, wine, spirit and mixer, or soft drink.
“You can enjoy a free wine with every salad from our menu, and two free cocktails with every salt & pepper Sharing box.
“Throughout the day we are offering two pizzas for just £20. and between 5pm-8pm, you can order two of our famous cocktails for £13.
“And it’s the big one….. Bottomless Brunch for two hours for just £37!
“We have two sittings, 5pm-7pm and then 7.30pm-9.30pm, with the table yours for the night!
“And yes, the shots WILL be flowing Spender style! This will be my first Friday night back behind the bar for a while so wish me luck!
“Please call in, anytime of the day, grab a drink, have a bite to eat or just to say hello!
“This Saturday we have a double Singalong on from 12pm-3pm and 4pm-7pm with Hayley Murray. We have just a couple of spaces left for that if you’re looking for the best afternoon you could possibly have.”
Paul has picked a great weekend to celebrate.
He said:
“Southport Flower Show is in town from 20th-23rd August. It’s always a brilliant event for Southport, which brings so many people into town.
“If anyone’s going to the Show, they’re welcome to call in House Of Ivy here afterwards.
“The following weekend we have the Southport Air Show. There are always so many great events happening in Southport.
“Five years is a fantastic milestone to reach – especially with all the challenges facing hospitality businesses in this country at the moment.
“It’s tough for venues, and we appreciate all the support local businesses like us enjoy from local people.
“We’ve become famous for our Singalong Bottomless Brunches. We have some spaces left this October, but we’re fully sold out throughout September, we’re pretty much sold out throughout November and December, and we have bookings in now for next year.
“They’re such popular events, people love them! They always have a brilliant atmosphere, Hayley’s fantastic at what she does.
“We have lots of bookings in the diary for birthday parties and other events too. House Of Ivy is the perfect place for holding celebrations.
“While we’re famous for our Singalong Bottomless Brunches, this isn’t a party venue all the time! We don’t want to scare anyone off!
“We have a delicious food and drinks menu and times when it’s more chilled out, particularly during Thursdays and Sundays, and during Fridays and Saturdays when we don’t have brunches on.
“Thank you to everyone who’s supported us these past five years – we’d love you to come and join us this Friday.”
