Everton’s waterfront home, the Hill Dickinson Stadium, has been shortlisted for two major honours as part of a strong package of nominations for the Club at this year’s Football Business Awards.

Since officially opening its doors in August last year, the stadium has quickly established itself as a global benchmark for sports architecture.

These latest nominations further cement its growing reputation within the industry, marking a successful first year of operation on the banks of the Mersey.

The stadium is currently in contention for the prestigious Best Football Club Stadium Experience award, a category that recognises excellence across the entire supporter journey on matchdays and beyond.

This evaluation covers everything from high-end catering and cutting-edge technology to staffing, stadium tours, and the overall fan experience.

Additionally, the venue has been shortlisted for Best Brand Activation Involving Football, acknowledging the creative use of its internal and external spaces to tell the story of Everton’s heritage, as well as the historic docklands surrounding the site, celebrating the Club’s deep connection with the city’s waterfront.

Innovation and Marketing Excellence Recognised

In total, Everton has received four nominations for the upcoming ceremony, which is set to take place in London this May.

Beyond the physical stadium, the Club’s marketing and engagement strategies have also earned significant recognition.

A nomination in the Best Club Marketing Campaign category acknowledges the rebranding of Goodison Park and the launch of Everton Women’s first season at the historic stadium.

Goodison Park has been transformed into the largest dedicated women’s football stadium in England.

The Club’s Forever Blue Membership and Rewards scheme has also been shortlisted in the same category, highlighting efforts to deepen supporter engagement and provide new benefits for fans through a refreshed offering.

Furthermore, innovation within the stadium’s premium hospitality spaces has been recognised.

Specifically, the bespoke algorithm that was designed to deliver complex dining operations across four distinct restaurant environments within “Dock On 1,” which earned a nomination for Best Use of Technology in Football.

A Growing List of Industry Accolades

The Football Business Awards are part of a wider wave of acclaim for the project as it moves through its inaugural season.

Hill Dickinson Stadium has been shortlisted for a Regeneration Impact Award at next month’s Sunday Express Construction and Property Awards in Manchester, which recognises developments that deliver lasting economic and social benefits.

Additionally, the venue is a finalist for Stadium of the Year 2025 in the global public vote organised by StadiumDB.com, where fans across the world can vote for the best stadium completed in the previous year.

These latest nominations follow a highly successful launch period for the waterfront landmark.

The project was previously crowned Project of the Year at TheStadiumBusiness Design & Development Awards 2025 and won Outstanding Development of the Year at the Liverpool City Region Property Awards 2025.

As the industry prepares for the upcoming ceremonies in April and May, Hill Dickinson Stadium continues to showcase why it is considered one of the most innovative and ambitious developments in world football.

The 2026 BAFTA Television Awards served as a fantastic evening for Merseyside, with local talent securing several of the night’s most prestigious honours. Held at the Royal Festival Hall in London, the ceremony highlights Liverpool's continuing influence on the global stage. The drama series Adolescence was the primary catalyst for this success, providing the platform for multiple Scouse victories in the acting categories. How Liverpool actors stole the show at the BAFTAs Stephen Graham, originally from Kirkby, secured the award for Leading Actor. His win was a significant moment for both the actor and the city, marking his first BAFTA victory after a career spanning decades of acclaimed work. Graham, who also played a pivotal role in the creation of the series, has long been a vocal advocate for the North West and the creative potential within working-class communities. Joining him in the winner's circle was Christine Tremarco, who took home the prize for Supporting Actress. Tremarco, another Kirkby native, was recognised for her powerful performance in the same production. The double win for two actors who grew up in the same area of Liverpool was noted as a rare and proud achievement for the region. The evening's success extended to the Supporting Actor category, which was won by Owen Cooper. Although from nearby Warrington, Cooper has strong cultural ties to Liverpool and utilised his platform to pay tribute to the city’s musical and artistic heritage. His win further solidified the dominance of the drama Adolescence, which proved to be the most successful programme of the night. The rise of Merseyside drama on the global stage While not every nominee from the city walked away with a trophy, the representation was unprecedented. James Nelson-Joyce was nominated for Leading Actor for his role in the BBC drama This City Is Ours. His journey from Walton to the BAFTA red carpet was celebrated as a testament to the thriving talent pool within the city. Nelson-Joyce expressed his pride in representing his hometown, describing Liverpool as a place with an undeniable spirit that cannot be ignored by the industry. The 2026 awards reflect a broader trend of Liverpool being at the heart of the British television industry. With numerous high-profile dramas being filmed on location across the Merseyside region, the city is no longer just a backdrop but a primary source of world-class storytelling and acting talent. The evening concluded as a resounding validation of the creative contributions made by Scousers to the arts, proving that the path from the streets of Liverpool to the highest accolades in television is well-travelled and wider than ever.
