Since opening in November 2023, Halewood’s first specialist coffee shop, Finchys Coffee House, has been going down a storm. Offering speciality coffee and teas, ‘the best bagels around,’ paninis, and cakes ‘to die for,’ this gorgeous new hangout has been a hit among the residents.
Finchys, located on Baileys Lane, is open seven days a week and is dog friendly. It has a bright and modern interior, as well as an outdoor space for al fresco drinking and dining. Spotting a gap in the market for a quality speciality coffee house locally, owner Kevin Maguire opened Finchys with the aim of offering the finest coffee, teas, and bagels in town at a super affordable price.
With large cappuccinos for just £3.60 and heavenly bagels from just £5, it’s rare to find such quality at such a great price. Crosby Coffee and rotating guest coffee roasters select the coffee carefully, and custom-made bagels from Meat Feast to Ploughmans are available. You’ll find different cakes each time, from brownies to carrot cake, and plenty of vegan options.
Unsurprisingly, as word has spread, Finchys has consistently seen a surge in activity, from friends and families catching up to people grabbing a coffee and bagel for takeout, and it has also proven to be a popular work space. Given its popularity, owner Kevin has been considering whether he should have chosen a larger venue.
Kevin said:
“As a coffee connoisseur myself, it’s been my dream for a while to open a speciality coffee house. I had a few viewings and offers on various commercial units but kept getting outbid. When the Baileys Lane unit came up my dream finally came true and we decided to call it Finchys as a nod to the legendary local farm and Everton training ground.”
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support from locals since opening and people have been raving about the quality of our coffees, teas, bagels and cakes. As word has spread, we’ve been getting people travelling from further afield too. We’ve created a real gem here in Halewood and it’s made me think I maybe should’ve chosen a bigger venue!”
Following a storming first few months in Halewood, Kevin is already thinking about opening more Finchys coffee shops in Merseyside. Finchys is a simple but effective concept with a refined menu that is all about quality and great value. It may well become a household name in Merseyside.
Kevin summarised:
“We’ve kept things simple and focused on quality over quantity. Because of this we’ve gained a reputation for being the place to come for the best coffee, tea, bagels and cakes. It would be incredible to have Finchys throughout the region and the way things are going you never know. Our success is all thanks to our amazing staff Ruby, Ellie and Camille though — they have been truly amazing!”
