Booker Flowers and Gifts is working with a number of Liverpool venues to offer Ukrainian Flower Crown Workshops, or Vinoks, to celebrate Eurovision.
From April 26 through May 11, participants can create their own Eurovision Flower Crown while enjoying a delicious meal at one of the following prestigious Liverpool restaurants.
Liverpool’s Hilton Hotel, Pullman Hotel, Love Lane Brewery, Hotel Indigo, and Clippers Barbers & Coffee Co will all be the chosen venues.
A portion of each ticket sold will go towards to the people affected by the war in Ukraine.
Owner Gemma Wakerley said:
“As a team at Booker Flowers and Gifts we want to celebrate this once in a lifetime event of Eurovision coming to Liverpool, whilst not forgetting why it is here, and to raise money for those affected by the war in Ukraine”.
“We felt it would be good to combine these workshops, by working collaboratively, with several Liverpool venues to form packages of activity, meal, and drinks. So, visitors to the city can also experience some of Liverpool’s world-renowned hospitality”.
“As we want the crowns to be made from sustainable materials, whilst also lasting for the Eurovision final, they are going to be made from dried flowers in Eurovision’s colours. This means they will also make a lovely keepsake to remember the event by”.
Young women who were eligible for marriage historically wore the Vinok, a traditional Ukrainian Flower Wreath, as a headdress. It was thought that the headdress protect young women from evil spirits in this pre-Christian tradition.
As Eurovision is coming to Liverpool in place of Ukraine, it is an opportunity to attend a Flower Crown Eurovision themed activity, enjoy some of Liverpool finest hospitality, and also support Ukraine at the same time.
