A thriving network of local experts has been credited with delivering a multi-million-pound boost to the regional economy, highlighting the vital role of professional influence in securing the city’s global standing.
Professionals across the Liverpool City Region are being encouraged to join a growing network of academics, clinicians, and industry leaders helping to secure major national and international conferences.
Club Liverpool, a partnership between Liverpool Convention Bureau and the organisation formerly known as The ACC Liverpool Group, is celebrating the achievements of its ambassador community as it transitions to its new identity as the Liverpool Experience Campus.
The call for new members follows the annual Club Liverpool Ambassador Recognition Event, where more than 80 guests gathered to celebrate the outstanding contributions of existing members.
Attendees included the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Barbara Murray, the Lord Lieutenant, and the High Sheriff, alongside senior university and business leaders.
Significant Economic Impact

The ceremony recognised 14 ambassador-led conferences hosted throughout 2025, which collectively attracted 22,220 delegates and generated £14.8 million in economic impact for the city region.
These events spanned critical sectors including health and life sciences, data science, environmental research, and accelerator science.
Howard Lewis, Chair of Club Liverpool, said:
“Liverpool’s strength lies in its partnerships, shared ambition and collective belief that the city deserves to shine.
“Ambassadors play an essential role in strengthening Liverpool’s research reputation, supporting local jobs and driving economic value and we thank them for their dedication.”
Over the past 11 years, the programme has secured 115 major conferences and welcomed 78,000 delegates, generating more than £115 million in total economic impact.
A Growing Pipeline of Global Events
The future remains strong for the region, with major conferences already confirmed through to 2029. These include the International Particle Accelerator Conference (IPAC) and the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry.
Faye Dyer, CEO at Liverpool Experience Campus, said:
“Ambassadors play a crucial role in bringing world‑class conferences to our city, and their work directly contributes to the growth of our visitor economy, industry sector strengths, and the international profile of Liverpool City Region.
“As we transition to the Liverpool Experience Campus, our commitment to supporting this community and helping them deliver exceptional events remains stronger than ever.”
