Bistro Lao has officially opened its doors on Rodney Street with connections to the famous Tiger Rock that is located all over Liverpool.
Wai and Vikki Teh, the owners of Tiger Rock, have started a new food journey which this time isn’t inspired by their travels.
Bistro Lao is a restaurant all about their meals from home, and what they grew up with, as it brings family recipes that Vikki grew up with.
The inspiration behind a lot of the meals is from Vikki’s Mum, who settled in Laos, so the restaurant is set to bring the vibrant flavours of Laos to Liverpool.
Staples of Laos with every meal

At Bistro Lao, your table becomes more than a meal as you see it’s a vibrant map of Laotian heritage, which will serve Laotian staples with every meal.
The aim of every dish is to tell a story of resilience and tradition, woven together through the smoky aroma of Gai Yang (grilled chicken) and the soul-warming depth of a hearty Tom Saep soup.
Experience the authentic rhythm of a Lao feast as you hand-roll Sticky Rice to scoop up fiery Jeaw dips, or refresh your palate with the bright, zesty crunch of Tam Mak Hoong.
From the first bite of savoury Larb to the last lingering spice, Bistro Lao celebrates the enduring power of the food that Vikki remembers well after leaving Laos, as well as celebrating the country of Laos.
The first Laotian Restaurant in the North West

Bistro Lao is now the first restaurant based solely around Laotian food in the whole of the North West.
Wai and Vikki opened the renowned Tiger Rock back in 2016 and now have three locations based across Liverpool, showcasing how popular the Asian cuisine has become.
Wai opened his first restaurant in Liverpool back in 1994, Siam Garden, which became Liverpool’s first popular Thai restaurant.
Now they will hope their mouthwatering menu at Bistro Lao, which includes a whole, flame-kissed fresh lobster, will become Liverpool’s Laotian go to restaurant.
