For the past month Liverpool residents have been able to shop online, using a new online marketplace that supports local independent businesses.
LIDS (Liverpool Independent Delivered Services) is headed by Dave Critchley, Executive Chef of Lu Ban restaurant and has already become a firm favourite in the city.
Dave Critchley has worked with suppliers and independent traders across the region for over twenty years. With his expert knowledge of the sector, he has brought together some of the biggest and best-loved traders in the city at first as a response to the Covid19 pandemic in order to help those self isolating access quality goods.
However, LIDS now aims to create a sustainable platform to continue to allow customers to buy from a range of retailers in one place, and get produce delivered straight to their door with next day delivery available.
Alongside his passion for supporting local business Chef Dave Critchley has also worked with food banks throughout his career and with LIDS is working to get quality food to those most in need through their community partner Knowsley Kitchen.
When people shop with LIDS they have the option to donate to LIDS Give – this money allows Knowsley Kitchen alongside their community partners including Homebaked Anfield to supply fresh produce to vulnerable and struggling members of the community.
There also now an opportunity for delivery in Wirral, customers have up until 2.00pm on Tuesdays to secure a Wednesday delivery. Orders can be placed online, with a minimum order of £50.00 (as long as it hits £50.00 with delivery & fees) limited spaces available so get your orders in quick!
“The use of foodbanks has continued to grow year on year, and I recognize they’re a lifeline for many in need. But I also believe everyone should have access to fresh and nutritious food and to understand the basics of good nutrition. With Knowsley Kitchen, we’ve brought together community organisations that support us to do just that. Right now we’re delivering over 200 fruit and veg boxes and 200 packed lunches to some of the most deprived areas of our city each week. We’ve got fantastic support from organisations such as South Liverpool Homes and LFC Red Neighbours helping get our produce where it is most needed and strengthening our work.
