Liverpool’s waterfront has welcomed another way to unwind, with SaunaBirds now based at Liverpool Watersports Centre in Queens Dock.
The traditional wood-fired Scandinavian sauna offers visitors the chance to switch off and experience a combination of heat and cold therapy overlooking the dock, adding a new wellness experience to the growing list of activities available on Liverpool’s waterfront.

Located at Liverpool Watersports Centre on Mariners Wharf, SaunaBirds runs supervised 50-minute sauna and ice bath sessions, with guests able to move between the heat of the wood-fired sauna, cold baths and a cold waterfall shower throughout their visit.
What to expect at SaunaBirds Liverpool
The intimate community sauna can comfortably accommodate up to eight people at a time and has been created using Scandinavian spruce internally, with aspen timber used for the seating.
Alongside the sauna itself, visitors can make use of two cold baths, a cold waterfall shower and salt scrub, while essential oils are also used when water is poured over the sauna stones to create steam during sessions.
Sauna temperatures typically sit between 80°C and 90°C, with SaunaBirds encouraging visitors to alternate between periods in the sauna and cooling off outside.
Guests are asked to bring swimwear, two towels, suitable footwear for outside, drinking water and warm clothing for afterwards. Changing and toilet facilities at Liverpool Watersports Centre can also be used when available.

Make a day of it at Queens Dock
The arrival of SaunaBirds gives visitors another reason to head down to Liverpool Watersports Centre, which already offers everything from open-water swimming and stand-up paddleboarding to kayaking, sailing and its popular Aqua Park.
Anyone wanting to combine their sauna session with a swim in Queens Dock will need to book the open-water swimming experience separately through Liverpool Watersports Centre, as dock swimming is not included as part of a SaunaBirds booking.
Liverpool Watersports Centre is a not-for-profit organisation operated as part of charity Local Solutions, with a focus on making watersports and activities accessible to individuals and groups.
