Wirral libraries are preparing to welcome a spectacular line-up of national and international authors this June to celebrate National Crime Reading Month.
The annual campaign, co-ordinated by the Crime Writers’ Association in partnership with The Reading Agency, aims to champion the genre and introduce new readers to gripping crime fiction.
The festival kicks off with a highly anticipated appearance by T.M. Logan at West Kirby Library on Tuesday, 2 June at 2.30 pm.
With more than two million UK copies sold and translations spanning 22 languages, he has established himself as a dominant force in psychological suspense.
Five of his novels have secured Sunday Times bestseller status, while two of his prominent works, The Holiday and The Catch, have been adapted for television.
He will be sharing insights into his writing process and discussing his latest novel, The Weekend.
Bebington Central Library to Host Sold-Out Liverpool Crime Series Trio
A week later, Bebington Central Library will see the return of a popular author trio on Tuesday 9 June at 7.30 pm, following a completely sold-out ‘in conversation’ event last year.
The panel features Gina Kirkham, a retired Wirral police officer who transformed her real-world experiences into a writing career, alongside Liverpool-born crime author and current Wirral resident David Jackson.
Completing the trio is Luca Veste, whose newest book, Liar Liar, serves as the opening instalment in The Liverpool Crime Series.
This year’s event comes with a theatrical twist, as the authors must work together to crack a fictional murder case live in front of the audience.
Wallasey Central Library Event Uncovers Agatha Christie Poison Secrets
The final event of the month brings a blend of science and literature to Wallasey Central Library on Tuesday, 30 June at 2.30 pm, featuring Dr Kathryn Harkup.
A former chemist turned author and science communicator, Dr Harkup explores the intersection of science, history, and popular culture with a distinct focus on gothic and macabre themes.
During her presentation, she will dissect the lethal history of toxicology by pulling back the curtain on the ingenious and deadly use of poisons across Agatha Christie’s classic detective fiction.
Tickets for each individual event are priced at £5 and include light refreshments.
Spaces can be secured online here or purchased directly in person at the respective hosting libraries.
