The Watering Can's Sunday Roast Society is back with a bang as first service sells out

The Watering Can’s Sunday Roast Society is officially back – and its first service of the season this weekend was a complete sell-out.

Brought back a month early following overwhelming customer demand, the legendary roast filled the Liverpool City Region award-winning restaurant yesterday, with regulars joined by plenty of first-time diners keen to discover what all the fuss is about.

Affectionately labelled “As Good As Ya Ma’s” and described by its loyal following as Liverpool’s favourite roast, it has developed an almost club-like following, with customers travelling from across the city and beyond.

Demand for the opening service was so high that The Watering Can was unable to accommodate a large number of last-minute walk ins and telephone booking requests.

Owner Keith Perryman said:

“What a first Sunday! The restaurant was absolutely buzzing and it was brilliant to see familiar faces alongside so many people trying our roast for the first time.

“When we say book early, we genuinely mean it. Get your name on a table as soon as you know you want to come because we really don’t like having to say no when the weekend arrives.”

Guests can enjoy two courses for £28 or three courses for £36, with The Main Event including Salt-aged Hereford Beef Rump, Chicken Supreme, Roasted Lamb Rump or Wild Mushroom & Hazelnut Roast, served with all the Sunday favourites and a fantastic selection of sides including The Watering Cans popular Truffle Cauliflower Cheese.

Set in the heart of Greenbank Park, a Sunday at The Watering Can is as much about the occasion as the food – a walk around the park, a table filled with family and friends in the prettiest surroundings, a proper home-made roast and no washing up.

Keith added:

“Sunday lunch should be something you look forward to all week. Good food, good company and time around the table with the people you love.”
