The Lake House Waterloo, a popular hospitality and leisure destination set on the picturesque Crosby Marine Lake, has revealed extensive improvements that have allowed the venue to welcome thousands of guests each week.
With a new Managing Director, Josh Roberts, plus Director of Operations Vicki Hanlon and Business Development Manager, Natalie Nixon, in the last 18 months, the trio of new hires within the management team has been transformative for The Lake House which originally opened in 2022.

Up 51% on revenue from 2023/24 for weddings alone, having recently been named in Hitched’s top six wedding venues in the North West, The Lake House is home to four stunning function rooms, a beautiful restaurant-bar overlooking the lake, plus 13 hotel rooms and a vast outdoor terrace area, better known as The Lawn.
Since onboarding Josh Roberts and his team, The Lake House has proudly increased its turnover as a result of key improvements. These include the redevelopment of the outdoor space, creating The Lawn and launching charming huts allowing for al fresco dining and drinks, as well as the refurbishment of multiple function rooms with stylish herringbone flooring, plus the addition of a service kitchen.
Prior to the new management team, in 2023/24, The Lake House turned over £1.5m, however, since their arrival, the venue and its varied offering has effectively increased its turnover to £1.9m in 2024/25 and is forecasted to finish 2025/26 even stronger with a staggering increase to £2.3m.

With an average of 2,400 guests per week, The Lake House has also seen a significant improvement in footfall with an increased focus on their Weddings, Events, Hotel and Restaurant, whilst engaging with a broader audience across Crosby and beyond including families, groups of friends, couples, business owners and dog walkers.
Since the appointment of Managing Director Josh Roberts in January 2024, The Lake House also has undergone a full rebrand, with a new kitchen team, and a reimagined food menu focusing on brunch and a Mediterranean and Italian inspired all day menu. The restaurant also serves a delicious Sunday Roast and is home to an extensive bar menu with expertly crafted cocktails.
Outside of the restaurant, The Lake House has unveiled The Lawn, an al fresco concept complete with huts, street food and live music, and around Christmastime, The Lawn is transformed into a stunning winter wonderland, providing a focal destination for local families.

Sitting right beside the Marine Lake at Crosby Beach, The Lake House has 80 valued employees during peak periods and 60 throughout the winter months, working directly in partnership with Sefton At Work and hosting programmes to support people facing barriers to employment.
An initiative that’s been driven by the new leadership team made up of Josh, Natalie and Vicki, The Lake House will be recognised for its effort next month with a Star Employer Award for Outstanding Support in Overcoming Barriers for making “a significant difference in helping our most vulnerable clients overcome challenges. Their inclusive approach to recruitment has opened doors to opportunities that may have otherwise remained out of reach.”
With additional community plans including the launch of a Bird and Bat Conservation Programme at The Lawn, hosting free events for Woodlands Hospice and creating an exciting space for families throughout the festive period, The Lake House’s new direction has been warmly welcomed by local residents, the people of Liverpool and visitors from beyond.
Josh Roberts, Managing Director at The Lake House, explained:
“Since joining The Lake House, my main focus has been on improving the facilities and its offering, cementing the venue as an exciting hospitality hub in the heart of Crosby that’s perfect for a varied audience. From much-needed improvements in our function rooms that has allowed us to provide an elevated wedding experience, to the launch of The Lawn creating an entire new outdoor destination in North Liverpool, we’re continuing to drive footfall, revenue and job creation with our all day eatery, hotel and wedding and event spaces. With the support of both Natalie and Vicki, and our wider Lake House team, I’m delighted to share the results of our collective hard work and am very excited as we look ahead to 2026.
“Next year, we’ll be further developing our community initiatives, working even closer with Sefton At Work and continuously adapting our menus and offering to continue providing an exciting and unique experience on Crosby Lake.”
