The Big Liverpool Bake stuns the city with a giant cake ahead of opening

Passers-by in Liverpool city centre were treated to an unexpected slice of spectacle on Friday, as Head Baker Alasdair from The Big Bakes carried a six-tier crowd-stopping cake across the city, turning heads, stopping traffic, and sparking conversation about what on earth the giant cake was all about!

The reason? To celebrate the arrival of The Big Liverpool Bake, the city’s newest 90-minute immersive baking experience, opening this Thursday, 23rd October 2025, at 60 Old Hall Street.

The Big Liverpool Bake stuns the city with a giant cake ahead of opening

Armed with steady hands, plenty of determination, and a lot of cake chat, Alasdair weaved his way through Liverpool’s bustling streets, dodging cars, posing for photos with tourists and locals alike, and even taking a moment to dance with buskers, all in a bid to guide the towering cake to its new home at The Big Bakes’ latest venue.

Adam Chaudhri, Co-Founder of The Big Bakes, said:

“We wanted to get Liverpool talking about how cake has landed in Liverpool, and this seemed like a really fun way to do it! Everywhere Alasdair went, people stopped, smiled, and asked what on earth was happening. It brought a bit of joy to everyone who saw him on his pilgrimage to Old Hall Street and that’s what we’re all about, the joy of baking! It’s a fun taste of what’s to come once we open our brand new (fridge) doors this week!”

Already a hit in London, Birmingham and Manchester, The Big Bakes is an award-winning immersive baking experience where guests bake the designated theme of the month in pairs in a fully decked out marquee, guided by a professional baker, with everything pre-weighed, prepped, and ready to go. All you have to bring is your competitive spirit. Plus, there’s even a prize at the end for the winning pair!

Inside the Liverpool venue, mornings begin with a cosy café and coffee shop, while evenings transform into a lively cocktail bar,  perfect for walk-ins and after work drinks alike. Hidden behind a fridge door, guests will find the iconic baking tent, complete with 12 baking stations, top appliances and all the ingredients for a bit of baking magic.

With a new theme each month, there’s always something fresh going on at The Big Liverpool Bake. This month they’re kicking things off with Monster Cake, for Halloween!

The Big Liverpool Bake opens on 23rd October 2025 at 60 Old Hall Street, and tickets and more information are available here.
