Around 70 of the region’s best independent traders will descend on Liverpool’s iconic St George’s Hall this Sunday (5 October) for a day of shopping, food and live entertainment.

The artisan market, with free entry, runs from 10am to 4.30pm and promises a huge selection of stalls offering everything from artwork, jewellery and candles, to one-of-a-kind homeware pieces.

St George’s Hall Artisan Market returns this Sunday

Foodies will be spoilt for choice, with stalls packed full of chocolates, cheeses, chutneys and more. Outside, the dedicated food zone will serve up a variety of hot dishes, from light bites to hearty meals, while inside, visitors can relax with a drink and enjoy live music performances throughout the day.

The event follows the success of last year’s autumn market, which attracted more than 3,000 visitors. Due to demand, organisers have already confirmed a winter instalment of the market, set to take place on Sunday 2 November.

Liverpool has a thriving markets scene, from the much-loved Great Homer Street Market (Greatie Market) to regular farmers’ and craft markets across the city. Full details can be found on the council’s markets website.

Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Health and Wellbeing, Councillor Harry Doyle, said:

“Liverpool’s markets offer is booming! On the back of the fantastic turnout in Chinatown last weekend, our markets team is returning with the St George’s Hall Autumn market which proved to be a huge hit last year.

“Feedback from visitors showed that not only was it a chance for them to enjoy high-quality, locally produced products, but being able to browse and shop in the beautiful surroundings of St George’s Hall made it truly special experience.

“And this is of course in addition to a regular community and farmers’ markets which take place across the city – each one offering something unique and helping to support our local traders and creatives.

“We’re proud to see Liverpool’s market scene thriving, and we’ll continue to invest in these vibrant spaces that bring people together, celebrate local talent, and boost our economy.”

Local trader and textile designer specialising in unique, bespoke city landscapes, Sandra Hepworth, said:

“The market was a big hit last year, and I’m so pleased we’re returning to St George’s Hall again. With so many local traders involved you really get that personal, friendly interaction that makes artisan markets like this really stand out from the crowd.

“And of course being located in such amazing surroundings really gives this market the edge. I know so many people who are excited to come along on Sunday – not only to check out the unique pieces for sale, but also to enjoy this incredible heritage gem, which many will be visiting for the first time.”
