Royal Albert Dock welcomes The Pie Port

  • July 16, 2019

Royal Albert Dock Liverpool has opened its welcoming arms to yet another family-run independent food and drink venue to its already impressive resume, which is set to bring some sunshine to your summer! The Pie Port will be opening its doors on Wednesday 17th July, offering a hearty menu of freshly baked savoury pies with mash and gravy.

Situated in the Dock’s ‘Anchor Courtyard’, The Pie Port is owned by husband and wife, Jon and Sarah Wills, who also own the hugely popular Satterthwaite’s Bakery in Crosby. Having made a name for themselves in Crosby with their freshly baked goods and use of high quality, locally sourced ingredients, the couple are now bringing their much-loved pies to the iconic Albert Dock.

Offering a menu of traditional and non-traditional pies, Pie Port customers will be able to enjoy classics like Steak & Ale, Scouse, Cheese & Potato and Chicken & Mushroom pies, and for the more adventurous, Pork Pie with Chorizo and Pork Pie with Black Pudding. Newer menu additions will also be added further down the line, which will include vegan options along with specials.

The cafe will offer a small casual dining space for those that want to eat in, with all items available for takeaway. With its industrial-style interiors, which include rustic features and vibrant red branding to complement the red pillars on the Dock, The Pie Port perfectly fits into the signature style of its surroundings.

Speaking about the opening, co-owner Jon Wills commented, “As someone who’s been visiting the Dock since I was a young boy, it’s amazing to be opening The Pie Port here at such a well-known location. So many great family-run independents have launched at the Albert Dock recently, and it’s very exciting to be part of the changes taking place.”   The Pie Port will join the diverse selection of bars and restaurants already present at the Dock, many of which represent some of Liverpool’s finest independents. These include Lunyalita, Rough Hand Made Bakery, Rosas Thai Café, Peaberry Coffee House & Kitchen, Maray and the Barrie Brother’s new restaurant which is due to open later in 2019.
