Royal Albert Dock Liverpool Wins Prestigious Purple Apple Award at the Revo Awards

Royal Albert Dock Liverpool is celebrating a major victory after winning the Best Large Marketing Campaign of the Year award at the prestigious Revo Awards in London on Wednesday 3rd December.

The “Purple Apple” award for a large-scale campaign is one of the most sought-after accolades in the retail, leisure and placemaking sector, celebrating exceptional marketing strategy and execution across the UK.

The iconic destination was recognised for its hugely successful marketing campaign, “Borealis by Dan Acher at Royal Albert Dock Liverpool,” whereby an illusion of the Aurora Borealis was created above the dock using a large-scale light installation, captivating thousands of visitors with moving beams of light and an accompanying soundtrack.

The success of the campaign was underlined by the installation’s phenomenal public engagement, drawing over 106,000 visitors to the dock across a 10-day period, and with the Liverpool installation ranking number 1 globally for visitor numbers within 10 days compared to all other major cities where Borealis has been exhibited, including Sydney, London and Paris.

Sean Morrison, Estate Manager at Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, said:

“This award is a phenomenal testament to the hard work, creativity, and strategic vision of everyone involved in the ‘Borealis’ campaign.

“To win the Revo Award for Best Large Marketing Campaign, especially against such high-calibre national competition, is a huge honour. It proves that by delivering world-class, innovative events, we can cement the dock’s position as a vibrant, cultural destination.”

The dock’s campaign triumphed against a strong field of national contenders in the category, including Merry Hill’s Into the Spotlight Campaign, St David’s Cardiff’s Nessa’s Grand Arcade, the Pawsome Pooch campaign from Clarks Village, the Trafford Centre X BWP Autumn / Winter Fashion Campaign 2024, and the Westfield Good Festival at Westfield London.

This award win follows a series of successes for Royal Albert Dock in 2025, including the launch of Dock Shorts with the installation of three state-of-the-art projectors, the expansion of its independent food and beverage offering, and earning a respected TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award.
