Liverpool’s much-loved River of Light festival is set to return in 2026, once again transforming the city centre and iconic waterfront into a spectacular open-air gallery of illuminated art.
The popular event has become a firm favourite in Liverpool’s cultural calendar, attracting thousands of visitors each year who come to explore the glowing trail of large-scale light installations spread across the city.

Running from Friday 23 October to Sunday 1 November 2026, River of Light will bring a series of dazzling artworks created by international artists to key locations around Liverpool’s waterfront and city centre. The installations will light up some of the city’s most recognisable landmarks, offering visitors a unique way to experience Liverpool after dark.
Completely free to attend and family-friendly, the event invites people of all ages to follow the illuminated trail at their own pace. Previous editions have featured around ten striking installations, each designed to spark imagination and creativity while celebrating the power of light and art in public spaces.
Over the years, River of Light has grown into one of the region’s most anticipated autumn events, drawing locals and visitors alike to enjoy an evening walk through the city surrounded by colour, sound and creativity.
